Can I sell this wordpress plugin?

Hi Warriors,

One of my developers is totally free these days and I asked him to code a wordpress plugin which will basically syndicates my published wordpress posts with links pointing to my site across some 30-40 edu wikis out there.

It is now working fine and it really has helped my clients get some really miraculous results in their SERPS overnight as they are all do follow edu in content links and these links are getting indexed on their own in a very short time.

Now I am wondering if I can sell this plugin as a WSO??

Can this sort of plugins be sold on warrior forum??

What should be the ideal price I should set?

Any ideas for bonuses or something I can add with this plugin??

Sorry people a total newbie WSO Seller...any advices are really appreciated very much..

Thanks,
k3rtii

I don't see a reason you couldn't sell it, BUT... how effective will the method be when hundreds of people are hitting the same 30-40 wikis with links all day long?

Yes, I absolutely agree. This is why I'm Encouraging to focus on showing relevant results and proof.

Yes, you definitely can. But don't take my word for it tested out yourself.

I would recommend starting out small and gradually raising the price from 17 to beyond.

Make sure that you offer proof not fake proof because you will get called out quicker than usher at the VMA's

A good bonus to go along with any type of software is a pdf guide. Your customers will love you if you do this . Which reminds me Customer support is more important than anything you ever do nowadays.

One option might be turning it into a link-building service instead. That way you'll be in control at all times. You could even hire a cheap worker to do the actual work.

I definitely do not recommend offering a service because it takes so much time and effort when the alternative is only offering the software once and focusing on the support and improvements to what you're offering the software that is.

But yes, I do agree that it is a option.

maybe you can add more function like article directory, social bookmark, or press release
    to that's plugin before selling

Well actually I have started of with this idea of developing a social bookmarking plugin..but the problem is that there are tons of social bookmarking sites over there and also posting to this socialbookmarking sites whenever we publish a post will take a lot of time...so actually I have considered posting to some 10 of the bookmarking sites as a bonus plugin to this plugin..
Coming to article directories...most of the article directories dont have an api and even if some of them are having an API it is of not much use as article directories requires a person to be logged into their site whenever we are posting an article and also the article needs to be unique and it really is a tough part to do that...

Coming to press releases...I think it is better to have a windows app rather than a wordpress plugin to submit to press release sites as press releases wont be having anything to do with the wordpress site or our post...

      Thanks for your reply..

Yep providing service is really a great option..I am also thinking of something like a membership site where members can give the links to their posts and there will be this script on my site which will post to all these wikis automatically...
But having a wordpress plugin is what most ppl might be comfortable with but this membership site idea would be great for us as everything will be centralized under our control and we can easily add any new sites as and when it is required..

As a linguist I stubbornly stick to using the proper terminology for everything. In plain English: to name things as they are.

    E.g.
If I choose to show your article/post on my site because I think it's value for my readers - that is syndication.

If you impose your article/post on my site without my knowledge - that is spamming.

Which means this plugin is a spamming tool...

      Correct me if I'm wrong:

Except if I put it up in an article directory, hoping that webmasters would take it from there and publish on their site as "relevant content". Of course, keeping the toolbox (my name, links) unchanged.

Remember, the initial idea behind article directories was to syndicate my content to other websites...

Ethical considerations aside, unless the developer has given/sold you the right to sell the plugin, you can't. If you do not have a specific work-for-hire agreement in place, or the developer hasn't specifically conveyed the rights to you, then you do not own the copyright to the work - the developer does.

I retain the copyrights to all of the software I write - themes, plugins, etc. Only rarely, and only for a significant amount of money, do I give them up.

@Istvan: Yep I agree it is spamming basically..
@Stevejohnson: Well actually I have the rights to sell anything that my programmer has done on my machines as he signed with his consciousness that in the SLA(Service Level Agreement) that I have all the rights to do whatever I want to do with the code on my machine...

Btw he himself agreed upon the selling of plugin
