Question about GOOGLE keywords

Hello,

Could someone explain me little bit about the google keywords.
At the moment I'm searching suitable keyword/domain for my niche site.

As I can see on the google AdWord, there are many options.

So lets say I have random keyword and keyword tool shows me:

MY KEYWORD:
  • Global monthly Searches - 823 000
  • Local Monthly Searches - 555 000
  • Exact Global Monthly Searches - 260
  • Exact Local Monthly Searches - 170
  • Phrase Global Monthly Searches - 320
  • Phrase Global Monthly Searches - 210

When I type my keyword in google.com :

  • About 285,000,000 results
  • ALLINTITLE: MY KEYWORD 12 342 results.

So could someone maybe explain me, which numbers should be between xxx to xxx for maximum result in getting potential customers to my site (which Im also going to SEO for maximum results)

Thank you,

    Thank you,
The first problem that I saw is that the [exact] monthly searches are less than 2000 ! You must choose a keyword with more than 2000 global [EXACT] montly searches.

That is not true. I have some keywords that have far fewer searches that do exceptionally well.

The key is to try and find buying keywords.

I look at the top ten results using a keyword tool and visually.

I would download the SEOmoz toolbar (Chrome or Firefox) and then look at the top 10 pages ranking for your keyword. If your site is new with no backlinks, and the top 10 results have thousands of backlinks and a high authority, you're not going to best them unless you build a similar amount of backlinks and authority. If the sites have under 100 backlinks and are low authority, you stand a good shot. Just make sure those keywords have search volume using the Google Adwords Keywords Tool.

Thank you for a informative post. I downloaded SEOmoz toolbar and found it useful.
As I can see my highest competitor has page authority 48/100 and 259links. It looks too hard for me who is a beginner in niche sites?

Work a bit more on the keyword selection criteria and make sure that the keywords that you do select and finalize are those that attract a large number of visitors to the web. As far as having a range for it like a minimum and maximum value it depends on your site and how much other sites having the same or similar stuff are getting.
