$0.99 Unlimited + Private .COM Domain Registration Until Halloween!

Just wanted to let everyone know that Domain Names & Web Hosting : 1&1 Internet Inc. is having a $0.99 .COM domain sale until the end of October.

1and1 can be a pain when transferring domains, but this deal is too good to pass up. It comes with private registration meaning your WHOIS info is hidden.

Also, you can register as many domains as you want!

I'd rather pay that little bit extra to not support a bunch of crooks and to get better customer service.

Any suggestions for cheap domain .com registrations? I would do this deal but not if its hard to transfer as I would definitely want to transfer them.

I wish people would bother to search just 1 time before posting the same stuff over and over, this was posted here http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...m-domains.html and to spare you the scroll here's what my experience after registering the 99 cent

Yesterday I registered one, let me explain all that went down

I got access to the domain within 20 mins, and I changed dns within 5, I have yet to be billed an entire day later...

I contacted them asking them today why I haven't been billed yet(my guess is because they're off on the weekends...yeah i'm not joking) how long I had to have the domain, if there was any catch, how I could turn off auto renewal(it's on by default for all accounts) since the control panel is HORRIBLE and bare bones. Their response was there is no catch, you don't need to have the domain for any certain period of time, you don't need to buy hosting, and whois privacy is free as long as you don't transfer the domain. As far as auto renewal goes, you can't turn it off from your control panel... you either have to call them or try and disable it at cancel.1and1.com (btw is too is very confusing to use and most likely won't work, read below)

Here's where you should be concerned, if the above didn't startle you, on their private customer forums, you literally have 100's of people complaining, i'm talking hardcore I can't stand 1&1 pissed off customers who've been there for years not holding anything back in their posts. The fact all these posts exist and 1&1 staff never read nor address any of them is a big red flag. Apparently 1&1 will bill you forever, even if you try and cancel, at which time they'll send a bill collection agency after you(which they own) and threaten to ruin your credit. They also apparently can delete your account at any time and free your domain(it's in their TOS) for absolutely no reason. Their hosting is very flacky and sites can go down for days/weels, especially if it's a weekend since they're off... Transferring domains can take weeks or just never happen, I emailed them 3 times and only 1 actually answered any of my questions, the rest kinda just bs'd me and made no sense. If you want to contact a supervisor, you can't, there isn't one, and apparently they're very rude on the phone. It's so bad people on the forum, trapped in their contract, feel hopeless and are desperately trying to leave. Others recommend you buy a prepaid debit and only use that to purchase stuff from them. Also as far as whois privacy goes, if anyone sends you mail apparently they charge you $5...it's in the TOS somewhere and the extent of that i'm not sure, think they filter spam but again, you'd have to look more into it.

Don't go for it, I just purchased a domain through them and am not happy. It was 4 days ago and my Paypal is still showing $6 for the transaction, and I cannot change my MX records to use Google mail.

Also their sales support is great, but technical support and billing support is terrible. Technical support doesn't know what they're talking about and you'll be on hold for at least 10 minutes before talking to anyone.

I'm beginning to think a bunch of 1&1 shills have infiltrated the Warrior Forum.

Google 1&1 scam to find out how many very unhappy customers 1&1 has and then decide if a stinking .99 cent domain is worth it.

I'm in agreement, this is at least the forth post in recent days advertising these scam artists.

Two lessons to be learned here:

1 - Before you make a post, especially an announcement like this, check first to be sure it hasn't already been posted.

2 - If after all of these posts someone is still foolish enough to buy one of these domains (or anything) from 1&1 then don't say you haven't been warned.

I've been using 1&1 for years and have had nothing to complain about. I also use other providers for domains like Godaddy, but 1&1 has usually had the best deals in the past.

A deal like this doesn't come everyday.

    MY 1and1.com REVIEW:

WOW! WOW! They are the worse company I have ever dealt with. If you notice I am writing this review about 4:58am I started with them about 1am trying to buy a domain. I had 185 domains in the shopping cart and then the process stops. I get back to the cart and nothing was there. I spent several hours adding them domains to that cart. I called and asked to buy them online.

The lady said I had to buy one domain and have an account so that is what we were doing. She was ordering me a domain to get an account.

I was then asked for my information and address etc.

    THEN HERE IS THE KICKER....
    ....
    ....
    ....
    ....

The lady asked for my paypal email address and password. I told her that is not something you are permitted to ask. Before that she asked how I will be paying. I said paypal. She said that 1and1.com does not accept paypal. I told her they most certainly do because it gives that option at check out. She said "I have been working here 5 years and I know that we do not". I asked to speak to her supervisor after her asking me for my pw to my paypal and she transfers me to tech support.

Prior to all of this I was asking questions and she said hold on and just put me on hold never was polite and asked for permission just said hold on. I tell you what. This company is only successful because of the money they spend on advertisement. That is the only reason they are who they are.

I am baffled by my experience and if I were not saving about $1800 I would not be doing business with them. I have never experienced this type of support from any company. I am seriously stunned! WOW!

1and1.com is nowhere near a good company. They are crap!~

I had one hell of a time pointing a domain from them to my Hostgator account. I'm slowly moving away from 1&1 (I have a few sites hosted there, but they need to be moved). I'm just worried I'm not going to have an easy time transferring my domain that was included in my hosting package.

I really need that domain name (it's my real name).

Their hosting blows, it's sooo slow and I've had numerous WP installs just go funky.

A couple weeks ago, someone posted on this forum that 1and1.com was offering .99 .com domains (boy am I sorry I read that post!). I saw that and though "what a great deal!". I headed over and bought 10.. and then 10 more.. and up until yesterday, a total of 60.

About mid-month, I came back to this forum, found the same thread and saw many negative comments and how everyone should be sure and "read the fine print" at 1and1.com . I headed back and checked out the front page again. A little asterik resides by the special and at the bottom of the page, the related asterik says,

"* Offers valid for a limited time only. “6 Months Free” and “3 Months Free” offers valid with 12 month minimum contract term only. Setup fee and other terms and conditions may apply.
Click here for full promotional offer details."

Clicking there this time, I was taken to the next page which advises that this was only for 10 domain names. Ouch! At this point in the month, that was an extra 20 domains at $200! But.. bad on me for not reading the fine print.

I decided to call and talk to someone about it to see if I could do anything. I got a hold of support. The dude actually told me to not sweat it.. that billing would take care of it for me and they wouldn't charge me. He furthermore stated that people typically just open separate accounts to ensure they don't get charged extra but that I have nothing to worry about anyway. He said he'd forward me on to billing to be sure though.

So.. on to billing I went. A woman answered. I explained my situation and she stated that I wouldn't be charged p/ domain.. that it was .99 p/ every domain all month long... so long as I didn't order in bulk she explained. She went on to say, "You didn't order in bulk though. I'm looking at your account and these were all processed separately so you're okay." It gets better. She put me on hold to check w/ her manager about something.. came back and asked, "Sir.. where are you seeing that this only applies to 10 domain names? We're not seeing that." I had to direct her to where the details of the offer were! (and ultimately, I think the outcome of the below situation was because I made them aware of this!)

I hung up.. feeling reassured and since that day, ordered more this month. Yesterday, I open my email and find a new email:

    Dear [customer]

    Thank you for contacting us.

We do sincerely apologize for the misinformation with the billing department. We looked into your concern of being billed $ 9.99 per domain after first 10 .com's ordered. According to our Terms and Conditions the promotion is only extended for the first 10 ordered and then will be original price for any domain ordered after.

If you have any further questions do not hesitate to contact us.

Uh.. say what? I immediately replied and explained that I had since purchased another 30 .com domains, based on what I was told..as this was another $300! The reply?

We cannot give you a special deal as you're requesting. The $0.99 offer for domain names is very clearly for the first ten (10) domain names registered. This $0.99 offer is not for unlimited domain names, as this is not what the offer dictates. Certainly, we cannot afford you this advantage when other customers do not get such a deal. This would be unfair to new and existing customers.

At 1&1 Internet, we do take a certain amount of pride in our offers and competitive prices. This is why we're going to ensure that you get the full ten (10) domains for $0.99. All other domains will be billed to you at the standard price as outlined throughout the sign up process.

Thank you for your concerns and feedback.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

On a good note, the service was so bad that they never actually processed my credit card except for the first 3 domain names so I've paid them a total of $2.97. After getting the first email yesterday, I checked my bank account, ready to be completely p.o.'d.. and found they never charged me. Some of these domains are over 2 weeks old now! I immediately cancelled my associated credit card and a couple hours later, when logging in, I was informed that they tried to process my cc and that I needed to update the details.

So.. I guess my account will be forwarded to collection, but I'll be damned if I am paying the full amount! You can rightfully argue that I should have read the fine print (though I don't see NameCheap hiding any details that will end up costing the customer more), but the blatant lying on the phone just to get more money out of me.. and not honoring what they said... is unexcusable.

The moral... Steer clear of 1and1.com. They will lie and cheat and steal you blind. Had I seen the reviews that followed on the initial post, I'd have never went there in the first place. The rest of my domain names are at NameCheap and it is there I'll stay forever.

If 1and1 worked as hard at pleasing people as they did screwing them over, they would be wildly successful. It's hard to believe that they still choose to do business the way they do.. with as many complaints and negative reviews as they get. Maybe someday they'll get new management and realize that it's actually more profitable and easier to be honest.

that's a recent change then because I emailed 1&1 specifically asking about 99cent .com's and they said

1and1 requires, at least use to, fax them when you cancel to stop billing and/or cancel.

If you stay w/ them it's not a big deal but I hated their control panel so I moved all my domains.

I use 1&1, Godaddy, Netfirms and Namecheap.

    Overall I'm happy with 1&1.

Here are few things you should keep in mind.
    - The domain activation can take several days. Don't go with them for urgent projects.
    - By default you're on auto-renewal. Make sure to turn this off if you don't want to renew.
    - Check your invoices!!! They have a tendency to bill wrong amounts during these special promotions (Their billing dept doesn't speak to sales dept.) So if you find wrong amount billed, ask for a refund. They'll give it without any questions.
    - If you're unhappy, send a separate complaint (there's a separate email for this). Don't argue with the guy in the support line as it will go no where.

Few questions if you don't mind
1)have you ever tried to cancel a domain, or hosting service with them
2)have you have tried to transfer a domain away from them
3)as a customer what's your thoughts about the overwhelming number of upset users on their private forums?

        1. No
        2. Yes. I've registered w/ them and moved them out. Transfered some in and then back out. It was maybe 2 years ago though.
        3. Haven't looked at their forum. From my experience on companies forums though, they are normally full of complaints and problems. The people w/out issues, generally, don't visit to help or say how great it is.

Why on earth would you consider yourself happy with a company that you go on to admit has a tendency to consistently bill you wrong?

Aside from what you state as being okay, they are obviously horrible at customer service (judging by their own forum), don't care about their customers, make transferring domains as painful as possible for their own benefit and consistently try sneaky tactics to improve their bottom line (just to name a few of the more obvious problems). I just don't understand why someone would even chance it when there are such good domain service providers who won't do any of this, such as namecheap.

I think it's sad how so many people have come to just expect subpar or bad service as the norm because it's online. If your local utilities company treated you this way, the entire city would be up in arms and demanding something be done.

Always demand the best and you'll get it and you'll live a life that reflects it. Accept average and you'll start accepting it in all areas of your life. 1and1 is less than average.. so do the math.

I'm happy because of the savings when you register in bulk.

I'd rather register 100 domains for $0.99 (with ongoing-private registration)
vs around $17 in Godaddy (with private registration). Even namecheap charges for private registration from 2nd year. So you save around $1600.

        So that's the math.

If you want to get special attention and always 'demand' the best, then pay the extra price and go with someone who can provide that service. You shouldn't expect to pay the lowest price in town, and except a VIP treatment, just because you 'paid something'.

I recently paid $27 for a domain in Godaddy (with add-ons) because I needed that service.

I've stated my experience, what you should watch out for, and my opinion about 1&1. And I don't care if you want to believe it or not.

1 & 1 company sucks based on thousands of reviews online, there are more complaints out there than good review.

Why people care so much if they offer $1 domain ? I read reviews that they don't allow you to transfer and may steal your domain by forcing it not to renew until expire.

if the domain for online business, is really the $7 or $8 more important that a good trustworthy company.

I heard of this offer again and again, I registered 3 domain this month none of them with this company, I rather work with a company that is more trustworthy

They bill you later after the sale. That's why you don't see any debits in your account right away. I've also bought a bunch of domains before on sale only to find out later I exceeded the limit allowed. They charged my account at the regular price for the overage.

I have had a dozen or so domains with 1 and 1 for a couple of years and never had a problem - that I was aware of. Again, "that I was aware of." Most of my domains are at godaddy which is getting a bit more expensive all the time so I saw the 1 and 1 .99 deal and decided to get some more. Keep in mind I'm well aware of all the 1 and 1 website customer service horror stories. Anyway, I scooped up three more domains and added them to my account. All well and good. Only thing is that I decided I might actually do something with a couple of these domains so I started thinking I should check on their record in regards to domain service if their website hosting is so maligned. Turns out their domain service is similar with lots of bad reviews.

In fact, most of the reviews were so bad that it actually became entertaining to read them. I burned a couple of hours doing so. So after scaring myself off with all the bad reviews I ended up purchasing a new domain name from namecheap. (Although now I hear that godaddy is running a $1 sale if you have a coupon code!).

Within the same hour that I purchased the namecheap domain I received an invoice via email for my latest 1 and 1 purchases. Now I usually don't even look at those cause I figure it is automated and I already saw the price when I purchased. But, hey I had just read all the horror stories and was curious.

Anyway, to make a long story longer, the bill showed the charges for the three domains at full price 9.99 and then had one more line in which they discounted ONE of the domains. So, essentially I was being overcharged by $18 for my three 99 cent domains!

I called customer service and I will say they were fast, quite polite, and noticed the "error" and said the charge would come off within 2-3 days. I don't think I'll be holding my breath on that lol. I don't want to think about all the invoices I haven't looked at! Now looking to find a way to transfer out of there...

    wow.. this thread won't die!

But yeah.. they consistently "accidentally" overcharge... to everyone. And they're answer is always the same.. "simply open a new ticket and they'll take care of it".

And for the hundreds/thousands that don't catch it... too bad for you!

1and1 is a pathetic choice for a registrar.. and especially for a host. I really feel sorry for anyone who chooses them.

I'd rather pay $50 a domain than deal with this company. I don't think I've ever encountered a company with such horrible reviews before.

You will get what you pay for. Do a coupon search. I buy my .com domains for $4.95 including privacy. Not sure if the offer is still valid.
