Proxies Newbie Question

I am somewhat confused about proxies and why I need more than one. Really I am trying to understand what they are, whether I need them for software such as Market Samurai, and how I go about getting them and using them. I am hoping someone can be nice enough to explain this to me.

    you can use a proxy to be operating under a different IP than the one assigned by your ISP. You would need different proxies if you were attempting to appear as more than one person for things like posting comments/signing up for accounts/etc.

    There are a lot of other reasons for using a proxy as well, especially privacy.

      There are a number of reasons you may want to use a proxy. It hides your IP so you can surf the web in privacy. With IM tools you can often get your IP temporarily blocked by Google or banned by sites. Proxies help to prevent this from happening.

      Please note, I am not suggesting you use proxies to spam forums etc.
