Hey guys! I just thought I'd share this cool website that I found a few months ago. It's totally free (as far as I can see) and I've used it to create some pretty nice buttons and banners and the like.

I'm sure some of you have heard of it before, but here it is: Cool Text: Logo and Graphics Generator

I have no affiliation with the site. I'm just really satisfied with the images I've created using it and wanted to pass it along to all of you.

And for those of you who have an entrepreneurial spirit, maybe you could create a gig at Fiverr and create graphics for five bucks. Doesn't take long to make a graphic....actually, that's not a bad idea. Forget it. I might just do that! LOL

Anyway, there are not a WHOLE lot of options, but for a quick graphic or two it's not a bad way to go.

All the best,
James

P.S. I attached a sample graphic that took me all of 30 seconds to make. Hope I did it right. Never attached anything before.

Man, that site is as old as the hills!

    Graphics are 1990's style GIFs!

The site is still useful...is there another free graphics site more up to date you would recommend?

      The keyword here being free...

Well Steve, I never said they were amazingly good. Certainly nothing compared to what you create (very impressive BTW).

It IS a good place to create your own buttons for free though. Not everyone can afford to purchase really good graphics. Maybe someone only needs one button.

I find it to be a very helpful resource. If that means I don't know what good graphics look like, fine. I am simply trying to share something that has been of value to me with my fellow warriors who have been more than willing to help whenever I have a question.

        All the best,
        James

No offence meant for sure....... I know people sometimes need something cheap and fast for sure......... but these type of sites, just don't produce anything that really is of any asthetic value.

If it has helped you out, thats great, and maybe it will help others out, but honestly, I think that using graphics like those is really not in the best interest of your website, service or product.

There are many designers on here that can whip something up much more appealing for probably next to nothing. I guess it really just boils down to how much you care about your business/service image.

Many people do not have money and do not believe they can afford to have high quality graphics, but honestly, they cannot afford not to have high quality graphics if they plan to represent themselves professionally.

Just my opinions, and I am biased for sure, but I have always believed that if it's worth doing, then it's worth doing the best you can to make it succeed....

Thanks for your response, Steve. You bring up some good points. I think we are in agreement for the most part. I guess what I am saying is that it's better to have a reasonably decent looking button rather than just text or nothing at all.

            Thanks again and good luck.

You can also use Sumo paint or Gimp. For text you can use something like this http://cooltext.com/.

Thanks, Jim. I had used this years ago, but forgot about it. Comes in handy when you need quick word images for slideshows.

And while I agree it's best to use high quality graphics for clients, this is a great tool for quick and dirty and BEAUTIFUL word graphics for affiliate promotion slideshow/videos like Animoto or others.

As a matter of fact, last year I sat down and pumped out over a 100 of the most common recurring words/phrases I would need for my promotional slideshow/vids, but forgot where I made them. Saved me a LOT of time and spiced up these down and dirty affiliate promo vids.

    Again, thanks for reminding me!

I wouldn't use sites like this, but I do a lot of graphics work myself.

Just remember, GIMP is free too, and there are plenty of tutorials dotted around.

This is an old thread, but it looks like folks are adding some useful recommendations, so it's all good.

Here's a neat program: Photo editor online - Pixlr.com edit image

You can use it as a quick and dirty way to edit or create graphics online -- don't even need to download anything.

    Here are some more sites:

gimp.org - GIMP is a free open source tool, which has all or most features that Adobe Photoshop has.

For FREE images and other graphics -

    openclipart.org
    publicphoto.org
    public-domain-image.com

Basically, just search google for public domain photos / graphics etc. and you will find loads that you can use up for any purpose for free. No need for paying any royalty or worrying about copyright.

You can also go for paid graphics/images, where you would have to pay royalty from sites such as:

    shutterstock.com
    gettyimages.com

Again, google for more such sites.

Ofcourse, hiring an expert for getting professional graphics done can also be a good solution for many, based on situations.
