Possible to remove signature from Word Press?

I was wondering, is it possible to remove the words "Word Press" if you do View Source?

    If you're on your own self hosted Wordpress blog.

    1. Login
    2. Click on Appearance
    3. Click on Editor
    4. Click on footer.php
    5. Look for the words you want to get rid of and put <!-- at the start and --> after the word you want to exclude.

    This is a general tutorial of how to comment out stuff using HTML comment tags.

    Its in the footer.php .. You can edit them from there..

      By taking it out of the footer, no one can recognize it's a word press? or there are more elements that point to WP?

        www.yoursite.com/wp-login.php can point to WP. although nobody is going to test this.

        Well, those experienced marketers and web builders can recognize for sure..


        But then again, nobody cares so its all ok.. do you have a specific reason why you dont want people to know is WP?

          The reason is that someone copied one of our design. It irritates me. For the future I like to make it harder for others to copy.
