This is the best website that I have found for free royalty free music. www.jamendo.com This site has thousands of royalty free music tracks that you can use and not have to pay anything for it. You can use their website to browse by genre like piano music, rock, techno, instrumental, etc. If you use the advanced search option you will find that you can search by music that you can use for commercial purposes. It is amazing because it doesn't cost you anything and you get thousands of qaulity music tracks to choose from.

      Countonuspr,

Are you sure that you can use the music from that sire for commercial purposes?

On Jamendo's license page it seems that a fee is required for commercial use.

I agree That Jamendo is good but I find it really difficult when searching for tracks. Do you have any particular way that you use to get to good ones? Apart from using the genre to search, do you have any tip that can lead someone to good stuff easily?

Steven, I don't understand, InJamendo especially when you use the advanced search option stating that you want music you can use for commercial purposes and music you can alter, you get quit some options under the CC license. when it has a CC and they say we can use it commercially do we still have to pay.

I also found out by reading the license that come with the album i.e after downloading that they say something like "Thank you for downloading this album!

It's FREE and LEGAL distribution by Jamendo"

      What do you think?

Yes, some CC licenses mean you have to pay. You may have to pay to use for just personal use, or in some cases for both personal and commercial. a CC license intimates no-pay, but does not indicate no-pay.

What is CC? - Creative Commons

Stock20.com has a good selection of original (they create their own) royalty-free music.

Find something that suits your presentation (upbeat, motivating, mellow). Then, you can use Audacity to fade out (or down in volume) after the intro, so your voice is easily heard. At the end, use a fade in to bring the music back up for an uplifting ending.

This is what confuses me here - http://www.jamendo.com/en/creativecommons The music all falls under the Creative Commons License. Now some of it cannot be used for commercial purposes, but as you will see on that page some of them allow you to use the music however you want, and some let you use it however you want only if you just give them credit for the song. Another marketer referred this source to me awhile ago, and I love it.

I am not a lawyer though so I should check this out more in depth. Doesn't their license go against the Creative Commons if they make you pay for it. I could say OsCommerce is under the Creative Commons license, but then also have a licensing page and say it costs $100 to use this software. That is where I guess I got confused because of the Creative Commons message that is pushed on the website.

      What are your thoughts?

I just took a look at the jamendo.com site. From the TOS, it looks like at least part of the music offered is covered by the Creative Commons license. Individual songs may have different requirements, like attribution.

Under the 'Professionals' menu, you also find jamendo pro, for which there is a fee.

While I'm not a lawyer, nor have I ever played one, from my reading of the TOS you are in good shape as long as you stick to CC-licensed songs.

A great suggestion from countonuspr, I have gotten free "elevator music" by googling royalty free music before and used in a training video I have used previously, it fit the bill quite nicely! My son has just introduced me to using the garageband tool on our mac to make royalty free music also, although I'm still getting the grips with it!

Hi Norb, thanks for the freebies collection of music. you offered. I just wish to know if there are any limitations on the usage of your collection? Can I use them for example as background music for commercial videos? I ask because there was no instruction in the folders I downloaded.

Also the other ones you are selling for $27 each do I have a license that permits me to use them commercially?

Overall I like the music yo produce.

A CC License does NOT mean OK to use for anything. There are different levels of CC licenses. For example 3.0 means NO commercial use and personal use WITH attribution ONLY. Sometime various artists or tracks may include less restrictions, but CC was only created to allow for licenses less restrictive than 'Copyright'. Some CC licenses are just as strict. Some are not.

I bought music, sound effects and video clip libraries from Digital Juice several years ago and use stuff from them nearly every week. They may be a little pricey, but you get top quality and it is legal to use for any purpose. All my stuff is video/web-related, but I have seen their backgrounds and other items on TV commericals.

One of the things I like best about Digital Juice MusicBox is that each tune comes in 3 or more lengths... intros (10 seconds), bumpers (30 seconds) or background (3-4 minutes). They have all sorts of libraries, from classical to rock and roll. Worthwhile stuff. I can pull anything off my shelf and use it for my own projects or client projects, and its pretty painless.

I checked out Digital Juice and I must say - Ho. Lee. Crap! I would not have known about it were it not for Warrior Forum. The site is simply amazing.

Also, if you've not found pond5.com yet, there's a lot of great audio content there. Some of it is pricey, but I've found some quality short clips for $5 that are just right for video intros and outros. And that's really the key is to look for shorter clips, in my opinion.

AudioJungle, which has already been mentioned here, has very good material as well. However, it all hovers around the $13 to $18 price point each which is beyond what I'm willing to spend for a training video intro and out. Don't miss their weekly free clip, however. Over time you can amass a pretty good library of royalty free music. Envato, which owns AudioJungle, ThemeForest, and several others, all have a free item per week. Pretty sweet.

Hope that helps somebody like this thread helped me.

      Cheers.

    Hi!
When my friend, Roy and I did a video a couple of years ago for a Charity Monte Carlo Rally, I found an up and coming local band who had just produced an almost exclusively instrumental album ideal for our purposes. I emailed them directly and just asked their permission to use the music.
They loved the idea as it gave them free advertising on youtube plus we got a fantastic backing track. The video is here if anyone is interested:
Chris and Roy Monte Carlo Madness.avi - YouTube
My advise , therefore, is give a local band a chance to get their name and music 'out there'.Cheers. Chris

Like Filmora Video Editor which I am using right now, it has lot of amazing background music in its default library and onlne sources library as well.
