Need critique/advice on my review site

Hey guys,

I need critique but most of all, some sound advice.
I have been working on a review site since July. It has gone through so many changes. I first started off the site using SMF forums. Then I switched to wordpress, and since then, switched the theme twice. I have recently just changed to this theme and I have decided to stick with this one for good.

Now, my next plan of action is to at least make it on the first page of google with the keyword "write a review." That one is not too competitive. Not at all actually.

So far, I made a landing page for that keyword: Write a Review

and I have also made a youtube video.
My question is... do I need to have more words on that page in order to be on the first few pages? does google care about the length of an article?
Also, I would appreciate any advice on the site.

Thanks
#critique or advice #review #site

I like your site. It looks clean, neat, professional and inviting. That said, Google likes content. I think you should add more content and put your keywords "write a review" where it makes sense and flows naturally. Put it in titles on the page where you can.

    Good Luck. Hope this helps

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but "write a review" IS a competitive keyword. Where did you figure that it was an easy keyword? Almost every page in the top 50 for that phrase is an established authority website.

i used the adword keyword tool, it was one of the least competitive phrases

Unfortunately, you got played by Google adword keyword tool. It was a very high competition keyword and will be very hard to rank top 20 or even top 30 on Google for it. Most of the sites competing for it are authority websites.

"Yelp" is a MAJOR authority site in the "Review" niche, and it is only ranked #14 for this term. Unless you can show Google some MAJOR credentials in the "write a review" niche, you won't overtake them.

Im ranked 3rd, 4th, and 5th for the phrase "everyday reviews."
there are 12,000 monthly searches for that term in google.
is there a way i can captitalize on this? I have a lot of pages on my website, is there a certain reason why these three particular pages were chosen?

There are not 12,000 monthly searches on google for "everyday reviews". There are 12,000 monthly searches on google which CONTAIN the words "everyday" and "reviews". This means a search like "read reviews everyday" will count towards your monthly searches that you are seeing, but not actually get your site any hits ever.

There is a reason why those 3 pages were chosen, but we do not know why, because we do not work for google. Most likely a combination of some other webpages might have linked to those pages, keyword density, original content and more.

There is no way you can capitalize on that. Just keep writing more content, and eventually you will hit the jackpot and google will rank you for a big keyword phrase, and many sites will link to your article and then you will get more authority.
