For the Newbies

Hello all,

I am new to IM but I have been consuming information from all over the web in order to understand how it works and what options there are so I can make a choice.

I know, I am missing the big taking Action part (see below), but I will start when I feel comfortable enough with the topic to invest the time and $ required, which is hopefully after this thread.

So, I made this step by step that I thought would be great for newbies such as myself to read:


How to start IM:

1) Start a website or free blog

2) Create quality copy for niches (articles, websites, blog, ebook)

3) SEO to generate traffic or Adwords or FB ads

4) Build list through opt-in (for free video, articles, other content)

5a) Create your product, then sell your product or let affiliates sell your product = $

5b) sell other peoples products (amazon, ebay, epicdirectnetwork, neverblue, or direct from product owner): commission = $

5c) site membership for premium content = $


Note: A lot of the work, such as SEO or website building can be outsourced or purchased.


Other options:

-Flip websites?
-Test a product idea with Adwords and FB, if promising: buy it on Alibaba, have affiliates sell the product (you dont need a website)
-Are there any other options that don't start with making websites and SEO?

Some golden nuggets:

-The biggest mistake newbies make is not taking Action: just $#%#ing start already!
-Start building your list ASAP
-Choose a method carefully, test, then stick to your guns; switching back and forth all over the place will not give you the experience required to succeed. It take time so be patient!

    The easiest way to make money is with niche site. Try and research some good keywords and begin.

      i think the most important thing is to start off in the right niche.

      It has to be something that is of interest to you so you want to do the work required and enjoy yourself. Of course, it also has to be broad enough that there are a lot of other people interested in it as well.

      Seems like you've covered most of the things newbies could do here, yes!

      Also the mention of PLR/MRR is a very important one, as I agree that can often be the easiest way for a newbie to get started with own products.

      Of course, most newbies will start with affiliate sales, but selling your own (or PLR) products and building a list is something that most should get started with.

      Also, something that is seldomly mentioned here anymore, public domain. Public domain means you can get an old product, repackage it and sell it for a 100% profit. This is something that is easy for newbies, and the product will be unique!

    Ya, that pretty much sums up the internet marketing model that has been proven to work. It sounds old-fashioned and it's not sexy or flashy, however it works. The money is in the list is such a cliche, but it is one of the essential truths in IM.

      I think it's a nice informative post chocolatebelt, but I strongly agree with the others about having a niche.

      You need to find a niche that you think you can exploit and offer something that others are not.
