How Many Reviews Do You Read Before Buying A Wso?

I was browsing a wso thread with an endless list of review... SO my question is how many of those reviews do you read before making your decision to buy a wso?

Please don't forget to leave your vote!

It takes only 2 second...

Appreciate it a lot guys/gals

As many as it takes to make a decent decision. It would also depend on the item and price. If it's PLR, not many - I always rewrite anyway, so it doesn't really matter if it's written poorly, I just like to have something to give me a jumping off point.

If it's a program or system, I want to see several reviews from people who have clearly been using it, not just a bunch of people jumping on a bandwagon saying "wow, this is a fantastic offer... can't wait to try it!"

Thanks for your reply... got another question.

Let suppose the thread is over 5 page long do you read the thread from the beginning to the end?

      thanks

This is going to sound REALLY cynical of me, but if the review is totally glowing, ie not a single even a teeny bit negative comment at all, then I assume that reviewer is either a friend or affiliate of the OP, or has done the review in return for one of their products.

Ironic, a bit of 'This is a good product, only little grumble is...' actually makes me trust it more than if everyone thinks it is perfect

Good point but what if the product is in fact totally awesome and there's no ambiguous or negative review... do you just stay away anyways?

Particularly if it's software, yes, because you often find a lot of complaints about bugs and crappy customer service in the middle pages.

Reviews are not my main criteria.

      1. Does this WSO match my areas of interest?
      2. Is it by someone I know and/or trust?

If I get that far, I check to see if there's a review from anyone I trust (short list).

If there are reviews by the usual 'review whores' I click away.

If too many of the reviews are by people who joined very recently or joined a while back but have a handful of posts, I click away.

If the OP's posts elsewhere on the forum show a disconnect with what they're saying in the sales copy/their sig file/website, I click away after making a mental note to steer clear of them in the future.

If I'm on the fence about a WSO, I might buy it because, if it's crap/doesn't do what it says on the tin, I'll ask for a refund immediately.

I pay no attention to reviews. I don't buy from the WSO forum. I buy from people's signatures in the WF that I trust. I only buy info products or software that is relevant to my business or that I am interested in learning more about. I don't buy "methods".

i look at a number of things...

    - obviously is it useful to me?
    - how much is it?
    - i look to see how long they have been a warrior
    - i look at the OP's previous activity here on WF ie do they contribute in discussions about the niche...
    - i try to see if they know what they are talking about
    - i look to see if they have previous WSO's and see if they are well supported
    - i look to see if the reviews are based on free hand outs
    - i look to see if they are ripping off other peoples content

if i didnt do all of this i would be buying WSO's left right and center! lol

Ill look at the reviews. Usually if the first 2 or 3 are positive, then Ill keep reading the sales ad. But I rarely read more than that. Especially the long 2 paragraph reviews I usually won't read either.

Would you prefer having less reviews in the OP and checking up the whole thread if you need it or having every reviews in the OP

I think this is where being a member of Warrior Plus comes in handy ($3.99 per month). You get to know about every WSO, also you can see quantity sold and the refund rate.

I know this is more useful for affiliates and those who do WSO's but I do both and also buy plenty of WSO's. I find it valuable as a buyer too.

YES, you may have missed the price before all this information appears but if you are buying several a month, you'll probably buy more good ones than bad using Warrior Plus..

The Initial reviews could just be friends and family.. who knows.

I don't trust Reviews even in WSO. Because most of sellers are requesting reviews from members. So 95% reviews are not independent. They write a positive one as a favor.
So decide it your self before buying it. I only care seller reputation in WF. Most of good sellers like to contribute in free area. I like those sellers.
So check signatures when you see a valuable content in non-selling threads.

Before I even read the reviews I first look and see if this is something that my business specifically needs. If not, it ends right there.

If I determine if it's something my business needs, then I look at who the seller is. Is it someone I already know? Did I buy from them before and if so, was I happy with the purchase?

If I don't know them I'll do some research. First I'll read the entire sales copy to see what their offer is. I jot some notes on anything that doesn't seem clear or appears to be a bit too vague to make a decision. Then I'll go to their public profile and see what it says there. I then read some of their posts /threads that they started / commented on.

I see how do they conduct themselves in the forum. Do they contribue at all? And yes, I actually do this. I check out any other WSOs that they've had in the past and I'll scan the comments / feedback that they got. If I have any unanswered questions not found in the FAQs or in the comments, I'll send them a PM.

Once I'm done with all that, only then do I decide if I'm going to purchase or not.

This is close to the way I do it.

I do scan reviews to see who is doing them. If it's someone I know is a straight shooter and knowledgable in the subject, I'll read their review and give it some weight.

I don't give any credit at all to throwaway reviews.

I also don't put much weight behind professional reviewers, because I know that at some point there's an affiliate incentive somewhere. I just don't know which one it is, so I don't buy any of them.

As for the 'semi-pro' reviewers, or as one poster called them, review whores, a total waste of space for me.

I used to read the whole thread before buying a WSO. Even if they were 20 pages, I read them all.

But the more you read, the higher expectations you would have of the WSO, and you would eventually come to realize most of the reviews are actually crap. (NOT all though)

Now I don't buy any WSOs anymore, unless its a service like backlinks, design, etc.

So the more review you read the more expectation you have for the product and it could turn into a disadvantage for the actual wso

I read the entire thread, but usually not the testimonials because to be honest, I do not believe that they are ever as accurate or honest as they might be, usually if someone is honest they would have a couple of points that they do not like about a product, but you hardly ever see such honesty.

As well it is only human nature to want to put your best foot forward, how many sellers would put a negative review into a post?

So in reality, can you truly trust a review?

As another point of consideration is the polite effect, where a buyer does not want to offend or upset the seller so they glaze over the negative things about a product, in essence, they are too polite to be honest, and they are also afraid, to be honest for fear of being brutalized on this very forum, which is a favorite pastime of some members here.

So, I take it with a grain of salt, and if I am not sure I ask a question, sometimes I buy the product sometimes I dont, but if I ever see something that says, it is not this and it is not that and it is not this either, then I usually am not at all interested in buying it, because if you cant say what a product is, chances are you are not selling anything of any real "substance"

    Simple as that, )

This might sound odd, but the more reviews there are, the less likely I am to buy something.

In my opinion, it is not in a person's nature to naturally leave a positive review about something. If I see a ton of reviews, something fishy is going on usually.

If I am going to look at reviews, I just skip the first two pages because those are usually just the BS "This looks great" type of review. Most of those people probably didn't even buy it. They were just on the seller's email list.

I think it is more important who the reviews are from than the number of reviews if I don't recognize any reviewers and am still tempted I will read every post/review before buying although depending on price and how many posts there are.

      Hi ReachOneMedia,

I read all the reviews and all the entire thread
I chose that option although there wasn't an option to cater specifically for me - I tend to skim-read and I don't often read reviews if they're contrived, suspicious or unnecessarily wordy, but I often read the whole salesletter, whole thread, follow links, check history, take notes etc.

I therefore tend to know if a reviewer is a serial 'good reviewer' or connected with the seller. Like Andy (above) and others, it annoys me when the seller adds multiple reviews to the salesletter, because if they're in the thread, I'll have seen them.

Depends on where the reviews are. If they are in the thread I probably will read at least a few of them - but if they are in the salespage I completely skip over them. It's like references on a job application - you gonna give a reference that is bad for you?

However - even if the reviews in the thread are completely spectacular, I go to their profile page and look at some of their posts, threads, and thanked posts to see if the Warrior actually has the scruples to be honest, the knowledge to create a unique product rather than slamming together old info and shucking it out as a product - and a few other tidbits before I decide to buy from them.

I saw it from the =
    - Whether wso is useful for my business
    - Who can sell
    - How many of his post
    - How long he joined in WF
    - How many sellers get thanks
    - I see reviews from some buyers
    - How the seller to answer comments on threadnya
    - See WSO what ever he was selling
    - See the thread what ever he made
    - Probably the last I would ask directly to the seller via Skype.

Anyone with a little intelligence would not have a set number of reviews they must read before they purchase a product. You read as many reviews or testimonials or sales copy as it takes to convince you the product is worthy of your money - no more and no less.

Let me guess, if this poll showed the option 'between 1 and 10' as the winner, some WSO vendors would be stupid enough to think they should only post 1-10 reviews in their WSO?

    Puhhleassse....

Just wanted to know how different the behavior was when people are looking for review/testimonial.

I know for a fact that no one can have a definite answer to this poll... One day someone can look at a wso and buy it on the spot and another day the same person may feel the necessity to read all the thread to make a sounded move.

      Thanks for your input WillR

I read the thread, and usually skip the reviews, as in my mind the thread itself is more likely to have a true cross reference of the good and bad points. Reviews are too easily manipulated with free copies and bonuses... but that is only my opinion.

I have reviewed a couple of purchases before but NEVER when I have been asked the second I hit the download page to do so... If I think it is worth my time to either praise or warn someone off of something then I do so... but never because I could get something for it.

I look at WHO is running the wso and whether it's something I even need.

If the wso seller has invested more than the $40 wso fee, but has also invested his time and expertise in the forum itself (lots of posts), then I will look more closely. How many testimonials would not be a factor....it can be gamed too easily, imo.

While I used to place a lot of credibility in WSO reviews, that is no longer true. I have read too many reviews lately that sound unbelievable, that all sound the same, just spun slightly, and most importantly are the "to good sounding" reviews who couldn't possibly have actually reviewed the product because they failed to take note of major flaws such as missing components, corrupted zip files, download links that don't work, etc., etc., etc...

How could they have possibly downloaded something from a broken link?

How could they not have realized that one or more major components are missing?

How could they have unzipped a compressed file that is corrupted?

Yes, it is possible that they received a copy directly, prior to the offering, one without the problems, but doesn't that in and of itself make the reviews meaningless?

Likewise I generally just skip right over all the WSO's who write endless rhetoric, forcing the buyer to invest their time trying to determine what the product is, what it does and how it will benefit them.

The old "KISS" principle together with the old "Who, What, When, Where,Why" concept get my vote everytime.

If I cannot determine exactly what a WSO will do for me, what I can do with it within the first 30 seconds or so, I generally just skip right over it.

The worst offenders are those selling product without defining the buyers rights and forcing the buyer to write a post to ask what the rights are.

Ambiguous rights are no rights at all.

PLR rights with severe limitations are not PLR rights at all.

I have even seen a couple of product advertising unlimited PLR rights but then when purchased you find that you do not have master resell rights and or you do not have resell rights, just personal PLR.

In my view PLR means Private Label Rights and if someone gives you Private label Rights to a product you should be able to do just about anything you want to or with that product.

I like to see that somebody claims to really maked some money with it. If possible with evidence.

And I read the whole thread to see if the service is ok

I read them. That doesn't necessarily mean I believe or trust them.

But do you need them in order to make a sound purchase decision?

ReachOneMedia. I have to admit, I would rather there was some reviews than none at al, but I don't buy on what they say. Far more important for me is:

Is there a money back guarantee?

Is the product relevant to what I NEED, or would this just be a "shopping" excercise.

Can I trust the vendor, have they had previous WSO's ?
Saying that, I sold a lot of copies of my first WSO here, but I had played an active part in the forums and I think this is far more important than the initial reviews..

None... They are all crap. everyone knows that.

Seriously, if the product fits and it gas a guarantee, I'm cool.

Even if it doesn't, $10 is neither here nor there for me.

Sometimes I buy just to amuse myself, given the hype.

I think I kind of view it the same now. I've bought so many, however - every now and again something special does appear. Also, even from the ones that are not too great, they often contain great "nuggets" of information.

I agree with you Keith sometimes just a nugget out of all the garbage can make the difference.

        Thanks!

I usually scan them then if I am still interested, I will read the first few that have some real information. I often get more out of reviews than just the specific product information, I often find a warrior who has special skills that I find by reading their website, then I note that in my handy dandy little notebook and refer to it again when I need it .
