Is "VIDEO" the driving force behind social media?

  • Seems to me the most popular tweets and FB updates always lead to a video.
  • Youtube has increasingly become a social media hub itself.
  • All major news and entertainment websites lead with video.

If this is the case, can social media be an effective marketing practice without video?

If you think video is not the driving force behind social media, then how are YOU doing at social media?

Hi, I do use a lot of video in Social Media and it does get a lot of traffic as people are inclined to share videos more so than written content.

However, I find syndicating my blog posts through "Networked Blogs" and RSS Graffiti (facebook apps) both very useful to bring in more social traffic.

It improves the time spent on your site and is helpful for SEO. Just as TV took over the world, video is taking over the Internet. It's cool making your own vids too, more fun than banging away on a keyboard.
