Need Some Help With Sign up Box Conversions

hi guys,

I have a two year old dating site I am trying to establish again. I have changed the theme as well as done some minor tweaks.

The main thing is I am trying to capture leads.

The problem I have is that none of the optin boxes converts. I have had 3 sign ups with 270 unique views.

I have about 50 unique visitors pr day.

Here is my website, the optin boxes are in the bottom of each post, I also have a popover after 7 seconds.

any help will be much appreciated.

Thank you!

I can see immediately this page has been modeled after the 'Double Your Dating' homepage. Just remember he is double your dating, you are not. I don't think a page like this is going to work very well at getting optins for you because it is NOT a squeeze page as such. One could very easily miss the optin form in the sidebar.

    1. The optin form needs to be visible above the fold ie: someone should not have to scroll down the page to see it.

    2. If you want to keep the optin form in the sidebar then you need to put a nice big nasty red arrow pointing down at it. This will help draw the eyes over.

    3. The header section of the page is unnecessarily big for the small logo that is inside it. Shrink the height of the header so all the actual content of the page is moved further up.

    4. There are too many links on the page. One of the first rules of a good squeeze page is no outgoing links. A squeeze page should have one purpose and one purpose only - to squeeze the information out of the visitor. At the moment they are probably clicking all over your site and they never end up on your list.

    5. Test getting rid of the 'I hate spam' comment under the optin form. To a lot of people they will see the word spam and be reminded of why they do not want to sign up to your list.

    6. Test getting rid of the name field in your signup form. These days you don't gain much by having the name field so leave it out - this will immediately increase your optins.

Thank you for your insights Will.

What do you think about the optin boxes in the bottom of each post, is there something I can do to increase the "awareness" or get people to sign up there?

What is your take on lighbox?

About the header, I am no programmer so its impossible for me to fix, but I will search for help over at elegant themes.

I will start the testing right away and give you feedback if something is changing!

      Thank You

Just one small thing -- you have a couple of typos in your sign up boxes.

"I Will Never Share You're Contact Information With a 3rd Party"

You're is a contraction for "you are." It should be "your."

And there is another typo for the same word on the popover.

I would probably change the site font as well.. Something easier to read like 'Verdana'..

I agree with Will ... The optin needs to be visible above the fold and needs some sort of call to action. It looks very bland now and easy to miss.

Also putting up a slick graphic will probably help as people are more visual.

    Hope this helps
