This type of marketing just pisses me off

Every time I use Craigslist to sell something I get a rash of people scamming, which is bad, but today I got the poorest excuse for marketing I can think of.

The person responds and asks if the item is still available, then sends the following after I reply that is indeed available :

"OK, thank you for replying. Turns out i cant really get it right now anyways... my son just dented my van so now im gonna need to see how much the damage will be to fix it. UGH!

I thank god he's ok but of course it just had to happen now, when i'm finally earning very good money from this work from home program that i found. You know, if you want, they just opened up 2 more positions in our area. Basically you get paid to post links on the internet, it's very simple and I just do it while watching tv.

Here's the link if you wanna read about it:

URL

Ive earned about $600 a week since I began... not enough to quit my job yet but i actually have some extra money in my bank account. Well, probably not after i have to pay the mechanic bill lol. My sister is planning to sign up later and these positions usually go fast, so Id really appreciate it if you dont give the link to anyone else. Thanks!

Ask why his son doesn't take the other position to pay for the mechanic bill so he can buy your item.

Tell them that actually you have been a mechanic for about 20 years and you have all the equipment to pull a dent out in your garage and you will gladly do it for free when they come to pick up your item.

Tell him you're real excited about the opportunity and you'd like to ask him some questions. Tell him you understand he might not be comfortable giving you his phone number, so tell him he can call you at his convenience on your toll-free line...

...then give him the toll-free phone number for the FBI. (1-800-225-5324)

Ohhhh, you could have a lot of fun with this one.

      * You can send them to a video presentation for any mlm company, like Quixtar. lol

      * Tell them you come from a big family and that you could probably send them 47 people to do the work. Then tell him they'll only do it if they can talk to him over the phone.

When you call him change your voice each time you do, but it'll be from the same phone number. lol

      * Try and get his phone number and then have a girl call him and flirt with him.

LOL When I was trying to sell my Xbox 360 on Craigslist this time last year I came across all kinds of weird stuff. One guy emailed back asking if I still had it. I replied that I did and then he sent me a link to Gamefly (affiliate) to rent games for my Xbox 360...???

Next a women inquired about getting the system for her son and asked if it was still available. When she replied back she said she only conducts business with those who have a dating profile and that its the "legit way" to know who is really who.

Of course an affiliate link was included.

Like I am going to sign up for with a dating website to sell you my Xbox 360! lol.

lol ... didn't you know that everyone signs up for a dating site to verify their identity.

Then there's the free dog ad. Put a pic of an adorable free dog in the pets section. When someone responds, they get an autoresponse that the poster is on vacation, but will contact them when they get back .... but ... while they are waiting, they need to buy this guide on care and training a puppy.

    Wow.. that is priceless.

I've had Nigerian scammers attempt to get me to send them my PS3 when I was selling it on CL.

I would lead them on for a few days, then just end communication. I can picture them in their little coffee shop getting all excited, thinking they were going to get a free PS3. I probably saved countless people from being scammed while I made him interact with me for days, answering my questions before I would "send" the item, LOL!!!

If I had just a bit more time on my hands (not a dig at you) I would totally do this and then take it a step further by mailing them an empty PS3 box filled with peanuts and a power cable!

That's sad. Sorry that happened to you. I think your son should take
one of the positions so he can repay you for the van. I don't want to
take one of the positions and cut his chances. I won't even click the

when i first started to learn the ropes, this was one of those "dont tell anybody" strategy actually taught by the gurus.. and i remembered doing it for a week or so before finding out how hard it is to reply manually..

The commision sucks too, i think i made about $20 or so throughout the whole week i tried 'em. I wonder how it is today. I guess those who are doing it are blackhat marketers and brand new noobs.

but then again, this was around 2003.. cant believe people are still doing it 8 years down the road

    Gotta love it.

Put my Beemer up for sale on ebay a few years back.

Got a ton of emails telling me that they were sailors and emailing from the high seas etc. And that an agent would arrange to pick up the car for them. So I had to send $2k to the agent to pay for the fee.

    You know the rest.

They actually offered to pay full price for the car plus the agent fee.

They would paypal me the money.

I would have to transfer the fee to their agent.

.. then I guess they would raise a paypal dispute.

I started messing with one of them for fun. Man, the abuse he gave me. Too funny.

But you have to hand it to them for their ingenuity. I couldn't devise a plan like that if I tried for 10 years.
