Address Not Found- I Need Help Please

Hello fellow warriors,
I would like to ask help on how to fix my problem. I am getting "address not found" error in firefox and "cannot display the webpage" in IE for some of my webpages. I asked someone to view my webpages to know if my websites are loading on his side. He said that the websites are OK and loading in his side.
I keep trying and checking my laptop and IP settings but I actually do not know what to check because it seems OK because I can surf the net and can view all webpges except my own webpages.
My own webpages are not loading on my laptop, how can i fix this?

Thank you very much to all of you

    Hi, Raquel,

I have exactly the same problem with one of my web sites based on word press.

For the pages that did not display, I have resorted to looking at the code and have discovered that some nice person has made some subtle changes that I cannot correct - permission denied.

They have also introduced a new folder called hacked.php which shows as having no contents but I can't delete it.

If I try to replace the pages with my back up copies I also get permission denied. I can't even delete the pages!

At the moment the site does not display at all because I have changed the index file name and it looks like I will have to start all over again - once I find out how to delete what is already there.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

      Hi Artwebster

Ask your host to delete these files, they are probably sending out phishing emails or equally nasty stuff

You NEED to update to the latest version of Wordpress, now. Also, get the WP security plugin here, WordPress Developer.

You can't just have your host delete the files. The hacker will come back and do it again, and again and again. You must upgrade, you must get the security plugin and do everything is says, including changing the wp_ prefixes in your database.

If you are putting up a new blog, you can change to wp_ database prefix in the config.php file BEFORE you install the blog. Change it to something like "hfh_". Hackers are expecting there to be wp_. When it's not there, and it's too hard to crack, they'll move on to another unsuspecting blog.

        Good luck,

        Jonathan

      artwebster,
      Thanks for the reply.
I do not know if we have the same problem because I am not as technical as you are. But some of my websites can be viewed by others and I am the only one who cannot view it on my laptop. But I can still view some of my websites on the same server.
Where am I suppose to look for malicious codes? on my C Panel? Sorry for the ignorance, I am really trying to understand how to fix this..
My website is not in wordpress but I do hope we both find the solution to our problem.
      Thanks
