Upsells for the diet/fitness niche

Hi Everyone

My brother who is a qualified personal trainer has written a very detailed ebook on diet and other information he has aquired in his experience

I have said to him, we should sell on the front end for $19.97 and give affiliates 75-100% commission, then upsell with a higher offer

Does anyone have any ideas what to upsell as I have said audio, video and membership but he is not convinced

Many Thanks Everyone, really appreciate it

Rob

If it's a very detailed book, would he be able to provide anything worth more than the content he has put in the book?

I was thinking of doing something like this eventually, as I'm also a qualified PT with knowledge I feel is worth something.

I was thinking of firstly, offering a free report, which would be followed by a few more good tips/hints, then eventually offering the product.

Maybe this is something to think about. You may even get more than $20 for the product if your initial report and follow up emails are valuable to the list. You could beef up the book with pics/videos etc.

    Good luck.

      Thanks Fin

Thats his concern, what do we upsell if he has provided all the information in the ebook itself

I am thinking of including the audio in one go and pricing at $47 with 50-75 to affiliates,we then get something in return

I have been taught that front end is for leads and backend is for profit which is now our dilema lol

Put up a forum, and let members talk and motivate each other as well as interact with him.

No reason you can't charge $30 or $40 for that.

    are you selling locally?

if so then your upsell could be a bootcamp offer where they could say get 25% off his next bootcamp.

    If you aren't selling locally

then a micro-continuity type course would be good.
Say a 12 week course where they can get more indepth knowledge about health and fitness.

It wouldn't be hard for your brother to create 2-3 different routines in that 12 weeks for them to do.

They do a beginner routine for 1 month, then an intermediate routine for 1 month, and then an advanced routine for 1 month.

The beginner routine would be just an introduction to a full body 3 day split workout routine, in the intermediate and advanced routines he could introduce things like supersets, dropsets, negative reps, static rep holds at the end of a rep, etc.

If your brother is a personal trainer he will know what i am talking about.

He can take some training routines he has for clients, and video them, and then order them in intesity.

If he is a pesorsonal trainer then get him to survey his current clients and ask them to read his ebook, and then pay attention to what questions they have.

Then take the most common questions that they have about the ebook and create some videos or audio programs that you can use for your upsell.

what about offering the first chapter free, then making the rest of the book your "upsell" so to speak? Will get you a nice list of buyers then too.

Testing of couse but looking for buyers and not freebie seekers

      Great idea, so thankyou

Upsell a MP3 version of the ebook, for those looking to use it via audio instead of reading.

Yeah can easily have the whole book read over as a podcast, and upsell that. Some people don't like to read and would rather have the book read to them.

You could also take out say 7 parts of the entire eBook and include them as an upsell in a separate offer even though they were already part of the original eBook.

You could even offer a members area website, just put your book up in the form of a membership site. Then every week or two weeks just update the members area and make it "exclusive content" for members only you know?

Kind of like how Men's health has it. They give you a ton of great value, and just when you start to browse around the site and want more - men's health says "BOOM!" Want more? sign up here for exclusive members only content!

You get the idea yo! Definitely something that can be done, and if he's passionate about it it won't even seem like work to him since he already loves doing it. best of luck!

First of all try selling between 37-47 with a $10 downsell. You could even break the book up into 2 (just make sure the first part of the book is complete enough) and sell the other "upgraded or advanced" version for $67 ish.

    Upsell Ideas...

    $97 Webinar/Teleseminars for x weeks.
$197 Video training course on how to do the workouts.
$497 a month to lay out their meal plan/workout plan each week for them.
    $97 an hour consulting
$97 Podcast on him being interviewed with 3 + bonus interviews from other highly successful trainers (popular by association)
$97 QuickStart boot camp training videos that motivate them and get them going asap.
$197 for the actual PHYSICAL ebook sent to them via snail mail with dvd's etc. (very tangible)
$17-$27 a month forum for everyone to talk in and you answer. (make sure you have enough marketing power to fill it up some)
$47 physical vitamins/suppliments on an autoship?

The list goes on and on

its a brilliant business concept and definitely the way to go..

please let me be an affiliate, I am a Physical Therapist in the offline world and many of my clients need weightloss and fitness programs. I do offer it myself but my hourly rate is too high for most of them

I could suggest sport specific individualised programs, injury prevention, core strength training for specific sports, injury rehabilitation advice, postural correction programmes, stretching for pain relief, bodytype eating progs, supplementation advice and supply (affiliate programmes).

I am doing a similar system with some instructional videos
