Freelancing has worked somewhat but needing to regroup and need some advice.

Hello all,

I have done the freelance thing off and on not very aggressively for one reason or another and its getting to the point where I am tired of working long hours for virtually nothing. Any ideas on how to approach places like ad agencies to kick this into high gear?

Here is my portfolio, and am interested in anyone's critique... Does it absolutely stink, is this good, fair, excellent for the types of clients am looking for?

Should I stop using craigslist to find work and what sources have others found aside from fiverr and those types of sites that have worked well for you?

    websites like elance.com are great places to start your freelance career, a place where you can build your reputation as a writer and build a strong client list. Try out other freelance websites. I dont know if craigslist is still a good place to find writing jobs.

    Yeah, I get your point, there comes a time when you want to move on to something bigger, but you don't know how.

    I take it you have already worked at freelance websites, and have used craigslist to find jobs. If you are a programmer then you should take your portfolio to companies and firms and take on some big projects. If you are a writer, then you can search for some Magazine jobs.

    Yes I have done the CL thing as well as the freelance websites.
    If anyone can pm me I will send you my portfolio link as I want to get some of you more experienced freelancers thoughts on it.

    Aside from updating my website today I may try to see if I can get some meetings set up with some agencies in the bay area.
