Do Squidoo & Hubpages convert? From Amazon products?

Hi guys. So, Christmas is coming, and I'm thinking of targeting some toys.

Now, I'm not sure if I want to make a full blown review site, that will be worthless after Christmas.

So, it seems a hub like hubpages or squidoo are popular.

If you can get these ranked well, do they convert? Has anyone had success with them?

Hubpages seem to rank really well as Google likes them a lot. Not sure about conversions though.

I have heard good things about Squidoo but am not a member so can't tell much about its Amazon conversions. I have a Hubpages account with over 300 articles for almost 2 years now. I get a few dollars each month from Amazon but last year Amazon conversions really picked up post Halloween and stayed hot till the end of the year for me. I think amazon conversions would depend on the product you pick and bit of SEO too. Hubpages is certainly a good platform for Amazon especially during the Holidays. All the Best!

This is (almost) like asking if my sales page will convert better on HostGator or Hostmonster hosting. How well something converts depends far more on its content, and on the traffic sent to it, than on its location. I'm "just saying" ...

Hi, I use Squidoo lenses for selling Amazon products. Halloween will be soon here and the sales are coming constantly. So, yes, Squidoo lenses convert! Just do good keyword research, because Squidoo lenses ranks pretty well in SE, where competition is weak.

Birthdays; Easter; Graduations; Halloween - I can think of dozens of occasions where toys are given as gifts. Would it really be worthless after Christmas? Remember, the holiday shopping season typically starts in September. That means you have January - August to slowly build the site and increase the rankings so you're ready to MOVE MOVE MOVE when the holiday seasons comes around again.

I have a large network of hubs that I am glad I didn't just write off and delete after Panda hit. Once HubPages sent me packing to my own sub-domain, its like all of them came back to life and started ranking on page one or two again.

I "convert" with Adsense and affiliate marketing. For something that didn't cost me a single penny of my own money to create--yeah you could say I "convert" well.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

Yes, Squidoo is converting well, especially with Halloween coming. Keyword research is key though. As for Hubpages, since Im a California affiliate the Amazon module is really no good to me on Hubpages, but I use Hubpages as a backlink to my Squidoo lens.

Anyone who can get rich on Hubpages and Squidoo lenses would have made exponentially more if they put that same time and effort into their own sites... I understand the urgency here of getting something ranked fast for Christmas time, but after your experiment I'd pass on the "Web 2.0 Quick Profits" stuff.

      ^^^^ This ... exactly.

And they'd own their own business's websites, instead of being at the mercy of someone else with notoriously changeable terms of service and idiosyncratic and inconsistent interpretations of them which can result in websites disappearing in the night, as so many Warriors have found to their cost.

Your site wouldn't be worthless after Christmas.

In fact if you only make a killing once a year, on a $10 domain, your ROI would probably be enormous.

Toys R Us doesn't go into hibernation once January hits.

      Hi,

when I look at flowskis squidoo lenses, I see he has not many content.

On a lens like 10 best teen christmas gifts or boy christmas gifts, he shows 10 new amazon products each with little own written short product description max. 200 words.

Ok in this lens with 10 products a la 200 words short description, the lens itself has 2000 words of content.

This short self written product descriptions flowski has on most on his lenses are enough to make a killing income for him trough squidoo?????

      Is hat true?

So every affiliate marketer can copy this method, showing 5 or 10 affiliate products for 1 niche each with max 200 word descriptions in only 1 lens and make money with???

      ???

What I've found is my Squidoo pages are easier to rank & get onto page 1 in the SERPs, but they earn a LOT less than my amazon niche sites with well written targetted & entertaining content.

IMHO as long as you're willing to do smart keyword research, targetting decent traffic low-competition long tailed keywords and then intelligently build backlinks to your sites, that building niche sites earn you more money in the long run.

I'm going to start using squidoo pages more to drive traffic to my amazon money sites, rather than use them to make the actual sales.

  • Hi, by my side I only considered Squidoo.
I started using it this year, a few months ago to be precise, and with around 20 lens, sales are coming every week.
I sold halloween costumes, Roomba vacuum cleaners, shirts, toys and much more!

Try it, it will give you results if you drive a good and solid traffic to your lenses.

    Thanks and see you soon,
    Alessandro

Hi Alessandro, merry christmas and happy new year.
Next year is WM in brazil, will we beat the italians? Oh yeah then we will see many beautiful brazil women in tv.........

Ok, great about your squidoo success, does you write product reviews or does you write more informational lenses who does make the sales? Does the convertung traffic come only from the squidoo community (doing comments and link to related other people lenses)?

    best wishes

Squidoo ranks well in Google, but after a while your lens gets put as non featured and turns from green to red which is a real pain. This is even after you have over 500-600 words of content and have filled out all 5 modules.

Is there a way to prevent this happening so you don't need to update lenses constantly?

      Hi,

@Alexa; great, unbeliveaible your conversationel written style and thanks for the tips, I must read it, yes I know that a list makes more money, but I'm not sure it is time consuming and more work to build a list and you must have good email content too, you must have time to manage all your emails.
And last, when you promote affiliate products you must always send your traffic to a vendor sales pages,it's not possible to kickout the vendor, ok with a list you not lost your traffic I understand.

@cooler1; what you say this is in moment no happend in my eyes to an squidoo "expert",
named Logan Sargent (squidoo serp crusher) I have not read his wso, but he makes good money 700$ or so in month , only from 1 lens.

Possible that you not must write a few lens in a month, even every month only 1 lens could be enough.

But I think you must build strong backlinks to 1 lens so that this lens has a good stable google ranking for a few months before you write a new lens in your topic.

Does squidoo says in his tos that you must write a number of lenses in a month?
      Doesd squidoo says that?

How many words a lens needed to be long stayed in google and squidoo and make sales well?
500 words, 800 words, 1000 words, more??? I think more than 1000 words.

In warriorforum are enough good writers they write 1000 words for 7-8$ is this content good enough to make sales in squidoo ( they have good recommendations), or it must be a lens with content that cost about 20$ ore more to have good success in squidoo with affiliate products in the 70-139$ price range, any marketer must have an experience about this, or is this a secret not anyone will talk about?

I have success with Squidoo, and I think it's better than Hubpages. I have 2 big money-maker lenses that made me about $450 in December ($330 from Amazon).
