  • Not a scam: starting October 1, all applications on Facebook - including iframed fan pages - need to be served over HTTPS or the user will get a scary warning from their browser.

Definitely a scam: you need all kinds of overpriced services to avoid this, oh hey what a coincidence - we just happen to sell all kinds of overpriced services. What are the odds of that?

Nobody really knows the impact of this Facebook change just yet. There will be some chaos for a few days no matter what, and then a whole slew of "what you need to do" guides will pop up absolutely free all over the internet. If you're confused as hell about it, just wait.

I'm also covering this on my shows this week at TalkMarketingNow.com, which air at Midnight Eastern / 9 PM Pacific. Tomorrow I'm covering how to set up a fan page, and Wednesday I'm covering the SSL thing and why it's a big deal.

  • Thanks Darklock I found this website saying if you use Hostgator it can be for free here's the website: http://pennybutler.com/facebook4biz/fan-page-ssl-hostgator/.

I have just edited mine and everything seems to be fine. Hopefully it will work on other hosting websites.

    Cheers,

    Tim
