Create a website, research keyowrds, create content for those keywords, build valuable backlinks to that content. repeat.

Do on page SEO, meta keywords, decription, title. Submit your website to google webmaster tools and add an XML sitemap.

keyword research first and then create a blog, make unique content, build backlinks. CMIIW.

First, research is the most important step and something that should be done before you get a domain. Secondly, it's about unique, quality content and using things like social bookmarking sites, forums, blog commenting, using social media, submitting related articles to article directories that point back to your blog and so on.

Just putting backlinks out there will get your site indexed. I never do anything special to index my sites. I usually just start by bookmarking them

There is a lot to it. Look around the forum for a few weeks. Study as much as you can.

You ask a question that really requires a long response. Most people probably won't have time to write everything. Maybe be more specific or drill down to differnt parts.

My personal view is that search engines can change what the use to rank a site at any time. Personally i want to focus on social media marketing and getting people to talk about my site and link to it... which incidently will help with google/search engine rankings

Links back to your website (Backlinks) will help get you listed.

Pinging as mentioned basically is like waving a flag to the search engines saying you are over here. You have to be careful how you do this as if you ping the same info too much you will be ignored by the search engines (eg editing and updating a blog post on some blogs in quick succession). Look for a free mass pinger (website where you enter your website address and it send the flags out to many places saying look at my new content) - if you have a self hoseted wordpress blog you can add them to a list to do automatically for you rather than do it manually.

If you are using a wordpress site you can get a simple plug in that helps you optimise your pages. I think its called ultimate SEO or something. It will ask you to add tags and the like.

Again writing articles with keywords in the title, first and last paragraph can really help as well so do keyword research by google searching keyword competitors and seeing what the top sites write as keywords (obviously its working for them if they are top of google)...

And so on.. there are heaps of things you can do on this...

If you are a complete noob and like to get your site just to show up in google, then do this:

★ Setup a website in wordpress
★ Write a few articles on it
★ Tweet about the site a few times

-that's it! The link you see on my signature is a new site I launched 2 days ago.

I did not added sitemap, webmaster tools, analytics or ping. Just darn simple blog articles and there I got it showing up on google in day 2.

From the starting you have to think about seo
1)Choose Domain name on the behalf of targeted market
2)Make a keyword rich URL
3)Host your site the targeted market location
4)Now start search engine submission for your webpages
5)Do some directories
6)Ping your all urls

By doing it you will find that your mostly URLS will indexed in search engine.

So in this way your article getting very quickly first page of goole.
