New Marketer - eBook Conversion Advice Needed Please

Hi,
I'm a new marketer and I have a classical music eBook that I've been selling for the last few months and I could use some advice. In the past I would get a few sales every month which was fine at the original price I had, but conversions were inconsistent and really slowed down.

So in order to increase conversions, I've gone ahead and lowered the price thinking that a lower price would make a difference. It didn't.

The problem that I'm having is that even though I'm getting traffic to the page, I'm simply not converting. The only major changes I've made since I was originally converting are a few headline changes (after reading around more here) to try to make the page better.

If anyone could take a look at my sales page and take a look to see if there's anything GLARING that may be hurting sales, I'd really appreciate it. And please be honest -- if it stinks or it's ugly please let me know -- that's why I'm asking. I do understand that I'm in a nice market, but if I'm getting the traffic, I wonder what I'm doing wrong...

The page is:
copy classical cds to mp3, classical music ipod, organize classical music ipod | Classical Weekly

Thanks in advance,
R

Honestly... PC's pretty much rip your cd to mp3 these days once you stick them in the drive so that means you are down to the low-tech market. Low-tech music lovers are more likely to love their vinyl or cassette and not be too concerned with hi-tech mp3 players etc. Not trying to be rude or mean or anything but I see it as a needs driven situation. The target market that 'needs' to know how to rip their cassette or record to mp3 is not going to understand how to use an mp3 player and will prefer the analogue option. That's just my opinion...

I doubt there is a huge demand for this but I think you should tweak the ebook and sales pages several times - the technique works for any genre of music so why stick to just classical music lovers?

Toss up a page for country music lovers, big band, swing, etc.

      Couldn't hurt.

how much data do you have in terms of conversion ratios? It could be that you just got lucky that first month, or you're a bit unlucky now - if your traffic is relatively low this is likely the case.

really though it has nothing to do with luck, it's just variance, which is a huge part of internet marketing.

Just keep increasing traffic and try to do some split testing if you can. Your multiple sales show you that people are willing to buy your product with your pitch, so the general pitch may be good.

What kind of position would you be in if you could increase your traffic by 4x? You'd at least be in a position to start figuring out what your actual conversion rates are, and then tweak them form there.

You could also learn a bit about PPC and try that too, I suspect the classical music keywords may not be very expensive, but that's just a guess.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. I don't have enough data to tell so that's why I'm throwing lots of things at the wall to see what sticks.

          Yes. Thanks.

I am doing PPC and I'm not getting a lot of clicks. The QS's are ok, but the problem is that the specific long-tail keywords that I'd like to use are too low in search volume for AdWords. That being said I'm trying a lot with PPC and it's not that expensive.

Thanks again for your detailed response.

You are correct that there is NOT a huge demand for it and I have been tweaking the page. The reason I stick to classical is because I know classical and in classical, the music does take advantage of higher bitrate encoding (e.g. as opposed to standard iTunes ripping of CDs).

Your idea for country, etc. is a good one -- I just don't know if people in those interest groups want to make high quality mp3 copies of CDs as some classical users do. But I will check it out -- thanks!

I noticed grammar errors in the first 10 seconds.

Where it says "learn how make a high-quality" it should be "learn how to make a high-quality". I noticed you made this mistake a couple times.

Also I recommend adding an image header. Jumping right to the red text looks cheap. If a sales-page looks cheap I won't buy from it. Think of it from the consumer's perspective- if the landing page is cheap how good can the product be?

Just go through your page again, make the necessary tweaks and put some time into it. Then once you have a quality sales page, keep driving traffic to it and keep track of conversions.

*By the way, my grandfather and uncle would be interested in this type of product. They are music lovers and they listen to records because of the sound quality.

Awesome! Thanks for noticing that. I've been working on it back and forth so much that my eyes are falling out of my head -- so I do appreciate the close attention. I will add an image to the header, as well .....do you think the red is too striking???

      Thanks a million!
