Just a suggestion - I think that craigslist may record your IP as spammy. What about posting through proxy?

There's A LOT more to successful craigslist posting than your IP address. People who are able to successfully post tens of ads a day on CL make ridiculous amounts of money, and there aren't too many people like this out there, meaning that your odds of finding someone who not only knows how to beat the system but is willing to teach you their tricks are slim at best.

Your best bet is to do a lot of testing, as well as reading what others have said on forums and eventually you'll have the puzzle together.

Have you tried making a CL account? Or changing e-mails? Or using a different IP? Or posting stuff that doesn't have links sometimes...? Try that.

Quite possibly your posts are being flagged by a competitor.

You should look up Kenny Cannon, he seems to know what he is doing using Craigslist - check out Commission Overload, even though by now it should be more than 6 months old - good section on Cragislist in there.

I have 25 contractors doing this for me as of this writing but most of them fall off within a month or so because the pay isn't high enough and it can't be done overseas because of the geo-targeting.

I have a few seniors that are loyal and have been posting religiously for months...so I may redirect my efforts to contracting only senior citizens...(I'm sure that's not politically correct;-)

Anyway, my solution is limited...but it works...plus, if you have a high enough ticket price IT IS worth the efforts. 99% of the spammers are gone so my conversions are sky high.

Thanks for this info. I have a couple of questions. If I get a poster in Texas, can that person ONLY successfully post in the city she's in? Or can she post in other cities as long as its within Texas?

Also, is the "only post every other day" set in stone? Have you tested posting every day?

All of MY ads are being ghosted. Does this mean if I stop posting in other cities and start posting in the City I am in, they will show up?

Cheryl is right. This was exactly my experience as well.

Driving some serious traffic and cash. Unfortunately, the spammers overloaded a good thing. Then the whole enchilada started to destruct. PVA's. Ghostings. Freeze outs. Proxies. Multiple accounts compromised.

There are a few geniuses that create elaborate workarounds and still slip through the cracks. But her strategy is what works best now and in the end costs about the same as another PVA.

Craigslist has been following all our workarounds. As soon as we launch them... It doesn't take a leap of faith that they've got trolls here and on that other "dark" forum.

New phone numbers and proxies do work. I have several overseas posters and they use proxy services and other ways to post. Not gonna mention them because it can ruin the effectiveness of the proxy.

Hiring people is definitely the way to go when it comes to craigslist.

It really takes too much time to learn to post and have multiple ads up. Its best to just hire someone to post a few ads a day. I also have people in multiple US cities to post for me, but mostly use overseas because they have been more effective and cheaper. CL is a pain, but can be worth it!

Cheryl great advice on the pre recorded message. I'll be setting one up soon to use with newspapers and also implementing with CL.

Listen guys Craigslist is still the place to be. The thing is you have to write your ads properly and be able to change your ip address. I use links all the time they are not a problem. If you want to solve your ghosting problems for good I created a video course that will solve your problems. See my signature.

I had this same problem in the past but I am over it now.

I used to do a lot of posting on Craigslist for my Real Estate business.

I was posting several ads a day and my ads started getting ghosted left and right. I noticed that the majority of the ads I was posting were HTML ads and Craigslist doesn't like these that much. But you can get around it if you want to still be able to post nice looking ads.

Other than creating multiple Craigslist accounts, you can also try to use click able image ads that link to your website. This is a great way to use Craigslist for traffic.

You can make a photo in Photoshop or any other image editor that pretty much has exactly what your ad would say on it and save it to your computer.

here is an HTML code I use to make an image click able:
<a href="URL of target site"><img src="photo URL"></a>

Just put in your website URL and Image URl and drop it into the description. When people click on the image they will be redirected to your website. This is one of the best ghost free methods I have used.

Also when posting multiple image ads its wise to change the name of each image you use every time. Craigslist can't really tell which image you are using from your computer but they can track the name of the image you save it under.

This has worked for me, and I am now ghost free.

I'm releasing a wso on this subject in the near future. There is a very untapped niche on CL that I turn to every month for reliable cash,and there is no way to saturate it. There is still great opportunity on CL to be had for sure.

As for the idea of using anchor text,I think theres some luck involved there too. Anchor text is actually your enemy when it comes to CL, its one of the main reasons ads are ghosted.

As far as image ads go it depends on the category. If the majority of people posting in a category are not using image ads why should you shout "Ghost Me" to Craigslist and do an image ad. It doesn't matter how good a ghosted ad looks since nobody will see it. The key is getting your ads up
in multiple locations.

I don't think CL offers "good traffic" it depends on why you are there. I have mutiple PVA on CL and have posted as many as 30 ads a day w/out getting a single one ghosted. I also write very good ads imo and post them at the busiest times of the day.
If you want my honest assessment of CL people just do not use it in the way other people think for certain things. Like for contractor work. Why use craigslist when most people are searching for this type of work directly on google?

I have even made nice videos up for contractor work and seeing how few people actually respond, I don't see CL as worth it for certain industries.

That was posting multiple times a day, right before the busiest times. Sometimes I'd have to post about 40 ads before getting 1 response. So is there traffic? It really depends on the niche. For real estate I believe the traffic is there. I even know real estate agents who have made money.

But I've also spoken to countless contractors and they all said the same thing, CL sucks. It does. Even if you are that "genius" or "expert" its simple to tell by using CL long enough that certain niches are just not going to work for anyone.

How does someone have clients to post craiglist ads for, and, they don't even know how to do it themselves? Usually you hire someone who know how to post craigs ads for you, but, beware. They usually have your leads too and some may steal them, so, use cautionary measures when you find those who do it for you. Good luck outsourcing it.

I suggest that you look at what Craigslist did. It started very locally and saturated itself with local listings. Then it gradually branches out to other locations, getting saturated with each one. Now it's a global classifieds board as you well know. It's not a bad idea. People aren't going to list or view your classifieds if you don't have an audience or listing traffic. Getting listings from all over the place with an scattered audience isn't enticing at all. Focus on getting your current city using it.
