Paypal Vs Credit Card

Hi,

I am planning to launch a service here on WF. I'd not tell about the service type now.
What I want to ask fellow warriors is as follows.

What percentage of customers, I may get if I use credit card processing instead of PayPal.

For example : Paypal = 100%
Credit Card Processing = 70%

Credit card processing will be through alertpay or moneybookers. But the client will be able to complete payment with his credit card without having to sign up for alertpay or moneybookers.

Thanks

I suspect it's going to depend massively on what sort of service it is, and on what sort of price-range you're looking at.

My guess is that the answers will be radically different, for example, for a copywriting service with 4-figure prices (for which requiring credit-card payment perhaps wouldn't be a huge problem), and for a $10 keyword-research service (requiring credit-card payment for this might be a disaster which excludes a huge proportion of the potential market).

So, like so many things, I think the answer's going to be "it depends".

More relevantly, perhaps, I'm not clear how anyone can really know the answer to it, without having tried to sell the same service, separately, with two different payment-methods - because no other comparison is going to depend solely on the information you want to ascertain? And I can't imagine that's often happened.

You can pay with paypal without signing for an account, too.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Another thought, in case it's relevant (it may not be ): you could perhaps try asking some ClickBank vendors with products related to your service (if there are any?) what proportion of their customers pay by PayPal rather than by credit-card ...

          Thanks Alexa,

Thats a great idea. Actually I do have paypal but there were some issues so I thought of this, if this is going to work or not.

Another, other thought (if it's relevant) is that if (for example) you wanted to avoid taking too many large payments through PayPal for any reason, you could possibly offer people a 5%/10% discount for AlertPay payment, while making it very clear to them that they don't need to join AlertPay, to pay this way: they just need a credit-card?

Alexa, Thanks a lot, once again

So here's what I am going to do.

I am going to have both options paypal and credit cards and I'll give 10% off to a person who pays me via credit card .... Moreover i'll make it clear to them that they will not have to sign up, its going to be a simple credit card payment without any difficulties.

              Please see your PM inbox

              Thanks

This is true... your customer do not need to have a paypal account... he can still pay you with his credit card by being a paypal guest

PayPal seems to be the forum's preferred payment method - especially if you plan on launching your service with a WSO. Not accepting PayPal could put people off IMHO, but I wouldn't like to say by what percentage.

Keep in mind that people from many countries (including me, I'm from Moldova) cannot use PayPal. So I personally always prefer services that accept CC.

it's always best not to confuse the customer.

On WF most of us have got a paypal account and you can take credit card payment through paypal only if you have a business account.

It is safe to say that you can run your business with paypal if are dealing on with wf. Now if you will have customers from other sources, you can consider giving them alternatives but there is no need to give discounts as an incentive.

I offer services on WF here and hope that helps.

If I were you I would launch do a beta test and get real results instead of worrying too much about that... ;-)

In my personal opinion and preference....

I would rather pay with paypal rather than using my credit card directly.
