What is the BEST hosting affiliate?!

I've heard WAY too many horror stories when it comes to Hostgator's affiliate program...

Who offers the best payouts and actually PAYS. My referrals are all 100% legit and not black hat so that's not the issue.

Have you really? I haven't, and am slightly concerned to hear it!?

I've heard good things about Hostmonster and JustHost, if it helps. But this is mostly second-hand information ...

Yeah I have.. Maybe all the stories I've read have been people that were trying to scam HG?

I think I'm just gonna use like 5 different in-house aff programs that way if I get screwed by one I'm not screwed out of everything lol

Well I've heard horror stories about HostGator and also Dreamy stories. Depends on how you handle them. You could also be a HostGator affiliate through CJ.

I've never been NOT paid by HG. Scam stories are everywhere, about anything, and if one were to verify, are likely not true.

i have been paid by HG for years. all on time except a couple times years ago when they were based in florida and they had 2 hurricanes in like 6 weeks. but i did get my money and i think the delay was reasonable.

i know the affiliate manager at HG personally. i wont say in every case, but we have talked several times about the number of people that try to scam their program with friends (using same ips) or by trying to signup with bogus prepaid cards and a boat load of other scams.

they have the highest payout in the industry, and that attracts scamers. but i can promise you they send out a hell of a lot of money in affiliate commissions every month.

now dont get me wrong, i am sure there have been some good people have issues with them because something does not look right. we hear stories like that everyday about paypal. but usually, when the dust settles we find out that we did not in fact get the whole story from the person doing the complaining.

to the OP. i would not be afraid to promote HG one bit.

It seems HostGator just changed their affiliate rules today, now you cannot promote their affiliate offer unless you explicitly state that you stand to benefit from people using your affiliate link.

I can understand where HostGator is coming from, but I think this is a bit weird... Sure, I mean, I generally don't have a problem with telling people that it's my affiliate link, but I think some people might think if they just find a website and don't have a relationship with the person (being on his/her list etc.) "F**K him, I won't make him any money! I'll just go directly to sign up".

      Thoughts?

This is what you call hosgator cashing in on your hard work if this is true then SCREW them, this is a disgrace to act like this.

Looks like hosgator are getting greedy and want more for themselves and less for everybody else, bloody typical.

Ah well time to switch to promoting bluehost or another top rival.

bluehost have got mimilar rule. slightly less strict but still

          Dear Affiliate,
As you may know, The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has strict guidelines that relate to affiliates who offer reviews, rankings, endorsements and testimonials; and we require all affiliates of our CJ program to comply with these requirements.

To be compliant with the FTC Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, BlueHost expressly requires you to disclose that there is a "material connection" between you and BlueHost anytime you offer an endorsement or testimonial on our services.

          WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU
If you provide reviews, rankings, endorsements or testimonials about a service for which you receive commissions from us, you must clearly disclose the fact that you receive such compensation in a clear and prominent place--that is close to your endorsement.

The FTC takes the Endorsement guidelines seriously and has started to enforce them for both content providers like yourself and advertisers like BlueHost.

As an advertiser, BlueHost will monitor affiliate sites to be sure our services are represented appropriately. Under the updated Affiliate Agreement, failure to comply with the endorsement guidelines could result in removal from our affiliate program and the cancellation of commissions.

TIPS FOR MAKING SURE YOUR SITE IS COMPLIANT
To make it easier for you, we've pulled together information, based on a recent FTC enforcement case, to illustrate ways you can disclose a material connection between you and your advertisers. Take a few minutes to review this summary at:

BlueHost Affiliate Disclosure Requirements and Examples can be seen at: https://www.bluehost.com/cgi/info/ftc.html. The FTC also offers a variety of resources to help make it easier for you to comply with the guidelines, including: Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising: http://ftc.gov/os/2009/10/091005endo...esfnnotice.pdf
The FTC's Revised Endorsement Guides: What People are Asking: The FTC
Dot Com Disclosures: Information About Online Advertising: http://business.ftc.gov/sites/defaul...dvertising.pdf

Please note: These links are intended to provide guidance only. If you provide endorsements of some type, you should obtain legal advice on how the FTC rules apply to you.

Please take steps immediately to make sure your site is in compliance with these guidelines. Several of our leading affiliates have already posted their disclosures, and they continue to enjoy great success.

          Best wishes,
          The BlueHost Affiliate Team

Yeah, a lot of people don't like to buy from affiliates. It's funny too, because the affiliate is how the people hear about the product/service, so why shouldn't the "salesperson" get a commission. When you buy a car, that salesman gets commission and that's just the way it is. Why can't people respect the affiliate marketer. Although, I'm sure it'a mainly because of all the scammers out there, giving all of us a bad name.

their changes are in response to the ftc rules nothing else guys. many affiliate programs have been changing over the last year to reflect the new rules by the ftc.

and if you really want to get down to it, the current FTC rules state that every affiliate must disclose the fact that they will be compensated. so if you are not, you are breaking the law.

and ignorance of the law is no excuse, if you are in business, it is your job to know the law.

every affiliate must disclose the fact that they will be compensated...no exceptions are made for HG affiliates or any other affiliates.

Thank you for bringing this up. I would have started long before now, but that horror stories just made me postoned the project. The truth is that I have even set up all the system and channels to bring in the sales but couldn't start because I knew no other good hosting company that are reliable. So, I say thank you for the question.
