Email inquiry for speaking engagement

I been trying to get started in speaking for organizations like small chambers and rotary etc. So far I have sent out a couple of emails inquiring about how to get started but have only got one email indicating I did not include enough info.

My question is do anyone have a email I can send to organizations event planners/coordinators that can get me a meeting or requested to do speaking engagements both paid and free?

Whats your method to get inside business groups and trade associations to become a speaker?

I am a newbie marketing consultant doing both offline and online just getting started. I would like to also perform workshops and seminars that are sponsored by these organizations.
I am willing to call
Please list all your suggestions thanks

Make a well recorded, with good audio, 5 minute presentation of you speaking, or selling yourself to them. Place it on your site with a player, so people can hear you.

Some time ago I spent 3 years on the speaking circuit in a particular industry. I had someone photograph me talking at my first "event," and I produce a flyer showing me at the mic.

I then targeted trade associations all over the US and did quite a bit of speaking. Eventually I became tired of the travel and being away from my business, so I quit.

If I were to do that today, I would include a well edited audio CD of a live program, or of me talking in a recording studio. And send that with a snail-mail letter and flyer. It will make you stand out.

Yes, make a recording of yourself using the voice recorder on your computer. Stand up while you talk and speak on a topic.

Have someone photograph you behind any microphone, to plant the seed.

Put an info page on your website to advertise your availability.

When you send an email, point people to your page for more info.

When you call on someone, offer to send them a print package, that contains all of the same info that is on your website.

Direct mail some postcards referencing what you do and your website.

Let people know that you do speaking, your topic, and your rates for doing so.

Then volunteer to do some gigs for practice. Try the vo-tech, to speak in front of a class of business students.

Practice will only make you better, so get the practice any way you can.

Hook up with people who do webinars for the opportunity to practice live speaking in front of an audience.

I do live speaking in my Live Chat and in webinars. I have also done a number of teleseminars and radio interviews.

The first time I did an in-person speaking gig, I was paid $500 to do so.

But sometimes, depending on your business and business model, it might make more sense to speak for free in exchange for the opportunity to present your business to your future customers.

Good one.... here's some additional spin... Contact your local community college and find out who is teaching any of the entrepreneurism classes.... Starting and Operating a small business..... Intro to Marketing, etc... Volunteer to do a lecture.

You are now a "Guest Lecturer at....." Put it on your website or in your bio, etc...

Do a private workshop, and RECORD it..

Then, try to get a speaking gig on a radio, or get yourself featured in local newspaper.

Get all this infos, and put this in a nice resume, and put up a link in your website.

Send a info to the rotary club or trade associations, or schools.

    See what happens next :-)

Here's an easy formula for getting booked to speak AND the script to get booked:

      Don't overwhelm the programming director!

      • Do not send ALL of your materials in an e-mail.
      • Your goal is to get booked to speak by e-mail
      • Ask only ONE question: "Do you accept outside speakers?"

      Fool-proof-works-every-time "Seminar E-mail"

"Hello, my name is (name). I'm a (expertise) expert and speaker, specializing in topics for (target market). Do you accept outside speakers? My signature talk is titled (sizzling title). If so, please let me know... "

You'll get booked in a few back-and-forth e-mails. You can also use this script to get booked by phone or through an in-person conversation.

As you can see, it's simple, to-the-point, and very specific. Be specific and be prepared.

I got this script and formula from one of my mentors, Fabienne Fredrickson of ClientAttraction.com, a multi-million dollar business owner.

      Hope that helps!

          Why, thank you sir!

          A couple of other points:

          1. Depending on the situation, you might create 1-2 other talks (for a total of 3) and include the titles of each in the pitch. DO NOT get wordy or give any lengthy description. Your title IS your description. Make it sizzle! Focus on RESULTS.

Listing more than one topic gives them a choice and gives YOU a better chance of getting booked if they don't like the one topic you've listed. But keep it limited to 3! Don't go overboard!

Here's an example. Which sounds better?

"E-mail for Business" or "How to Write E-mails That Attract Clients Like Crazy!"

The content is the same, but the title is what SELLS. If you know nothing about writing headlines/titles, pick up a good copywriting primer.

          2. Don't worry too much about having a video of yourself if you're just pursuing local chamber of commerce events and such. DO have a speaker one-sheet ready and available.

A speaker one-sheet is a 1-2 page description of you and the topics you're available to speak on. It usually includes a brief business bio and a good headshot. It's fine to have it in Word or PDF. Keep your listed topics limited to three and include good bullet points under each title that tells what they're going to learn from each topic. Use good copywriting techniques and keep the focus on RESULTS.

          Hope that helps!
