Noticing paypal before WSO launch?

I've had problems with paypal checking my identification everytime I launch a WSO (sudden payments in short amount of time).

So I heard that to solve this - I can easily contact paypal to notify them. However my question is that, I don't think they know what WSO is, and even warriorforum? ..

How can I explain it without making it more suspicious?

Thanks

Just a suggestion: How about telling them you are doing a discount give away on a forum and you might expect a bigger quantity of orders coming through for the week/month.

Wow, for sure. If you want to have them scrutinise your account then say something like this. Seriously, what sounds more risky than someone doing a discount giveaway on a forum?! I personally would not say that and I would not contact them at all.

If you have a business account setup and you have confirmed your account with the relevant linking of bank accounts, credit cards, etc, then I wouldn't bother notifying them. Why draw any unnecessary attention to your account? Besides, contacting them prior will not stop your account being frozen or limited. If I was running a scam I could just as easily contact Paypal and warn them just like you - they are not stupid and won't just take your word for it. If you trigger their automatic fraud filters they will investigate things no matter what.

    Interesting - I think that'd work.

Any other warriors that had experiences with this?

You could just tell them you're launching a new product and expect a lot of orders.

From what I've read before, calling them does nothing.

If you suddenly made a bunch of money, like tens of thousands in a day or two, you may get limited while they check your account.

I think it's someone in their risk department who you would need to get a hold of, and they are not always easy to get ahold of if you just call up customer support.

Honestly, I think your best bet would be to buy one of the products that best describes how to stay on paypal's good side. I think Jason Fladlien did a WSO here about it, and he knows his stuff. Not sure if it's still available. There are others as well...

Interesting. I often think they are way too strict on these kind of things. But being that said - the true fact is that they really are the most safe and secure online payment system ...

.. woah - Will, your words always surprise me. You got your point there, however besides that my account is verified, I don't have a business account.

Being said, I think I'll just have to let them limit it and verify my id again :/

I see you are in Australia as am I. Why not get yourself an ABN (it's free) and then you can change over to a Paypal business account. They are much more likely to leave you alone with a business account because they have more evidence that you are who you say you are, should you ever decide to screw them over.

I know of a few Aussies on this forum, including myself, who have done big numbers in small periods of time and have not had any problems (touch wood). But they have all been using verified Paypal business accounts, as am I.

ABN can be obtained at the ATO right? - Can I really get an ABN without really having a business in reality?

If you are going to be making money or spending money on a business venture then yes, you can have an ABN. I am just a sole trader and so I have an ABN. While i was working in a regular job I also had an ABN for this online stuff I was doing on the side.

At worst it allows you to claim your expenses each year such as domains, hosting, etc and as soon as you start making profit those expenses will go against the profits - its definitely worth it.

Open a business account with PayPal and you won't need to worry about it

Get yourself an ABN and register a business name. It is well worth it and will save you a lot of money at tax time!

You can absolutely count on PayPal knowing about the Warrior Forum and Warrior Plus, if you use it too.

Allen Says and Mike Lantz recently had a phone conversation with the PayPal security team, discussing exactly how it was that they were generating so many dollars online.

If only I could have been a bug on the wall...

The only thing we know about what might have been said is that the WF added alternative payment options after that phone call.

As to Will and Andrew -
how exactly can I get an ABN? requirements?
what can I do with it? benefits? disadvantages?
how to use it? tax? what can I do with it?
Can I get it just because I want the business name? (without having a real business)
any other special things about having a business name that I need to know of?

Will, what do you mean by the expenses will go against the profits?

Just go to the ATO website and you can apply to get an ABN. Once you do that then go over to the Australian business register and register yourself a business name with your ABN. There are no requirements really to get an ABN, as long as 'you expect to turn a reasonable profit' then you can get one. If I remember correctly, registering an ABN is free and it is about $100 to register a business name. By making money online like you have been doing, you have actually been running a business without realizing it

There are many advantages with registering a business and I can not think of any disadvantages. The main advantage is that at tax time, you can write off all of your expenses against your profits. For example, if you spent $1,000 in advertising in order to make yourself $5,000 then you can write off that $1,000 in costs and only pay tax on $4,000 instead of $5,000. This goes with things like hosting, domains, PPC costs and anything similar. You can deduct them all from your total earnings so you pay less tax. You can also deduct consumables such and printer cartridges, paper, pens...or anything that is required for you to run your IM business and make money online.

Lets say you made $100,000 from your IM work over the last financial year but you spent $30,000 to make that money. At the moment you will not be allowed to make any substantial deductions and you will need to declare and pay tax on all $100,000. If you had an ABN then you would only need to pay tax on $70,000 instead. As you can see, this will save you thousands of dollars when it comes to paying tax

You can also open business accounts with banks and PayPal which have other advantages too!

Interesting - info that I haven't touched before.
So what percentage is the tax for a business? and for all of these processes - I do need a accountant right? apart from above stated - are there any fees that I will have to pay as a business owner?

        thanks andrew

Hi, the percentage for your business can change depending on a few factors and how you set it up (best to ask your accountant as they will work it out in whichever way that makes you pay less tax ) The main advantage is the fact that you can deduct all of your expenditures from your total earnings which saves you a lot of money at tax time.

There are no other fees that I can recall apart from the ~$100 cost to register the business name. It is well worth having a proper business set up no matter how much money you are currently making.

Although I have an ABN I still just run as a sole trader which means I pay tax on my income at the same rate any other person working a normal job would. I do not use an accountant. All you need to do is keep track of your expenses and income and keep good records. Sometimes I might use an accountant at tax time just to make sure I am doing everything correctly.
