Boy oh boy oh boy I'm stoked...

A bit of good news never goes amiss...well it could just be me, but would like to share.

I've just relaunched my competition yesterday and had 318 visits in one 24 hr period and am now ratifying my plan...ie changing it to some degree to encompass new thoughts around monetizing my site. It was to be a web based tv show about 'magic'and news, but has morphed (or will do) into an online newspaper with video inserts instead of just pics.

I am stoked. I have written down my plan and intend to calendarise (sic) it to take advantage of the new thoughts assailing me.

Thanks for reading Not made$$ yet but there's time for that I'm sure.

Oh and a big thanks to the support here. Reading so many constuctively comments about others and such is a boon

Cheers

I'm a Busking magician, and do quite well on the streets, gigs and festivals. Since being inspired by a marketing seminar and Andrew Lock, had the idea of a web based tv show which I did 4 weekly episodes of earlier this year.

Fast forward to now, and having bought a premium theme (gabfires newspaper theme) it's now a newspaper and video style presentation.

Anyway, 'The Contest' is about gaining points by Tweeting,FB commenting, YouTube replies etc (Contest Burner) in order to win 3 main prizes (Busking gear, revered props by those who busk and magicians) as well as 3 digital downloads of good video tutorials.

I've spent time and money over the past 2 years, trying to find my mitre. I'm not complaining, and know I am on a learning curve. WSO's sometimes derail me as do emails, but the focus remains.

I've had invaluable advice from members here, not directly mostly, but advice nonetheless. After my current project takes wings and flies, I'll be adding to it with a niche membership site as well as a 'fiverr clone'. Phew! A whole stable of stuff.

Sorry for the long reply but I'm stoked...

      Congrats, James!
Always cool to see people sharing their passions online - and having the potential to earn some $$ while they do. It's not always the easiest route, but it sure can be rewarding!

I would think that Facebook and Twitter could be great ways to build up a fan base, and let people know where you are performing etc as well.

Perhaps you could put together a nice little info product sharing what you've learned about getting into the business and doing well with it. Anything that decreases the learning curve for someone else (especially when it helps them earn money), save them time, help them avoid pitfalls etc etc will have the potential to sell especially as you build up your community of raving fans. I'm sure there must be plenty of aspiring street performers out there!

I would imagine you could make some money promoting various types of busking equipment as well (assuming their are some good suppliers online with affiliate programs).

Have you created videos of your busking performances and put them on YouTube? Could be another way to direct people over to the site - just make sure you include some sort of call to action ("come check out the contest" etc etc) and put a link over to your site right at the beginning of the description (I write it as "MyWebsiteAddress Presents: Title of Video).

      Anyway - best of luck!

Hi Bentley, I think youve hit the nail on the head with that one. Its what happened to me, in attending a lecture by a performer who is revered in the busking world.

Ive got a dynamic Facebook fanpage, and twitter all hooked up, and as Im still buskiing, the use of QR codes on a banner round the table (which opens up an optin video) is all in the works.

Thanks for commenting, and sharing the glee...

        Cheers
