Amount of traffic - how much is good?

Another quick one,

How many visitors is a lot of visitors to a website.

Should I get excited when I get 100?

1,000?

10,000?

100,000?

Don't forget to make note of all your small successes, this should drive you more to reach your goal.. one step at a time my friend!

    I agree with MarticAct420...

Traffic doesn't mean anything if you can't convert.

Loically that makes a lot of sense.

I'd rather have 50 visitors where 30 of them buy something, as opposed to 500 where 5 buy.

I guess the trick is to market to the appropriate audience.

If you can reach a 40% opt in rate and a 10% sales conversion 100 visitors a day is good.

each of my leads has the potential to earn me 700 dollars

I have worked long and hard to reach this these numbers though.

Is over 70,000 views and 9,000 visitors good in the last 5 months of the site being up?

I think i got something here, just trying to figure out how to tap into it.
What you should do is this: You need to START ADVERTISING YOUR NEW UPGRADE to the boiler room(another section of your site) and the up grade will cost???per month (only 5.95 or9.99) something like that or even only 2.95 per month ...Get the picture ..And in your boiler room you can show interviews or awesome deals every month or every week or just have a forum..
Dont ever leak exactly what the boiler room actually contains in detail...
You could even put in a pop up with a small survey but track results. Only have 2 or 3 questions on it like would you pay 3.95 a month for a special section in my pools and cues site''''

the more traffic, the better, as long as:
    1. your server can handle it. otherwise, if the server crashed, you got nothing.
    2. the cost of the traffic is less than what you got from the traffic (or at least your site has this potential).

however, if this is your beginning, even 100 visitors/day, or even /month, you should be happy, and work harder to get more traffic.

As stated in posts above, it's very important to set targets, so it's great that you're thinking that way already. But traffic alone is insufficient.

At the very least you should be tracking:
    Traffic
    Conversion rate
    Revenue

From this you can calculate important numbers such as the value of a visitor. This in turn will help you buy or sell advertising, or set new targets to increase your visitor value.

If you want to build a really successful business, you have to test relentlessly. This will allow you to figure out what works best. And you can't test without knowing your site statistics / analytics.

Whether you've got a one page blog or a big site, I strongly recommend you install google analytics (free) or some other stats package. You'll be amazed what you learn about your visitors and your website.

Targeted traffic is key! I noticed when I started consistently getting 200 visitors per day, I made one to two sales each and every day.

Keep working to build more traffic - you can never have too much!

100 visitors is a milestone for a newbie, and it IS exciting. But to consistently make money, traffic needs to grow. Article marketing, building backlinks, squidoo and hubs, blogs - these are all good ways to build your traffic.

You need exactly 4,234 visitors in order to be successful.

Kidding. What matters more is that you have a consistent number of targeted visitors to your site each day. Do this by building relevant links to your site from blogs and social bookmarking.

It does not matter how many visitors you get but how many visitors BUY.

If you get 10 visitors and they all buy a $50 product - this is better than 5000 visitors that buy nothing.

A great thread, would agree that the more traffic the better for you, but you would want to make sure it was targeted traffic that you were getting and you were getting a least one sale from every 1500 visitors, to make it worth it in terms of paid sources like PPC. Finding the right long tail keywords works everytime! Just my 2 cents!

Traffic is nothing unless it is targetted.

100 targetted visitors/day is the first milestone and you should be able to get at least $20 off them.

Personally I wouldn't be happy with my traffic at all even if it's 1000/day. Because the more is always better

This is the beauty of IM. You can easily scale it up since you have billions of potential visitors!

I definitely agree with that. Even a single visitor to your site each day can bring in $20 (ok it isn't that usual but possible). Targetted traffic is what really counts!
