Best Day/Time to send out Sales Email?

I am finally setting up my first auto-responder series and just noticed I can set a particular day or time for the email to arrive.

This niche is a money making scheme niche and I heard that Tuesday afternoons are normally the best time to send these emails out?

At first I was going to go with Friday afternoons as most might have money in their bank to buy instantly?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Also, do you think its best to link straight to the sales page or to link to my review of the product from the email?

Hope someone can advise me best!

    Hi Rambo,

From my experience, Fridays are not the best days at all. Most mails sent on Fridays are read on Mondays and there is no guarantee that yours will be read. Tuesdays generally are good and the open rate is usually higher. However, I'd advice you do some split-testing to see what works for you.

Sending traffic straight to the sales page will so much depends on the conversion of that page. I think that conversion info can be gotten from the product owner. However, pre-selling any product is always best in most cases but that will also depend on your ability to pre-sell.

NB: One may not know what works exactly without doing some testings. I strongly advice you start off by testing the different methods you have and then settle for the best.

I agree totally with Joekoffi on this, weekends are really terrible days to send out promotions.

You'll need to test different send out times to find
the best time for YOUR list and YOUR approach.

There's no one-size-fits-all time that is best for
everyone - even in the same niche.

The best time to e-mail out is also dependent upon the
geographical location of the majority of your list.

Are your list mainly based in the US, UK or elsewhere?

Also, with regards to placing a link to the salespage in
your e-mail vs. a link to a review... TEST it and get
the right answer directly from your list.

    Dedicated to mutual success,

    Many thanks,

my list is only double figures right now so testing it would be tricky since its such a small sample.

I will go with Tuesday Afternoons for now then.

    What Shaun said!

There is NO best time, AND, ALL times are the best times!

It not only depends on your list in general, but, ALSO on how you TRAIN your list.

If you ALWAYS send on the same day and time, your list expects it then, and if your content is good enough, they actually wait for it.

For the GREAT senders, subscribers actually get upset when the newsletter is not on time.

I guess I should have been more specific.

This isnt a regular friendly newsletter.

Basically, these will be emails that my site has captured and I want to try and sell to them straight rather then build a relationship.

I know some frown upon that but I already maintain other sites where I work hard on building a relationship but this project is just going to be a straight sales funnel.

        Are you serious?

How will you know in which countries and/or time-zones your prospects live?

When it's "Tuesday afternoon" in one place, it's going to be Monday night or Wednesday morning somewhere else on this planet, isn't it?

Unless it's a highly local business, and all your list subscribers live in the same time-zone, I suppose ... call me gullible but I heard that the internet was international and encompasses 24 time-zones, myself (and I seem to have subscribers in virtually all of them) ...

        Again, are you serious?

You're going to all the trouble of attracting targeted traffic, setting up an opt-in and creating a list, but still not building a relationship with your subscribers, and in a money-making niche, in which "credibility of recommendations" is typically "everything"?!

        • For my jewelry site, I like to send out emails late Tuesday or Wednesday night. Late Saturday night works well too. Late Thursday night wouldn't be my first choice as people are focused on clearing their work on Friday morning.

Basically I'm trying to be in the first few emails my prospect reads when she sits down at her computer in the morning with a cup of coffee.

The house or office is quiet because women tend to rise earlier than others -- hey, it's the best part of the day -- and she'll have time to browse my site.

I only sell in the U.S.

I think every List is different and there is no fixed rules on when is the best time to send email to the list.

The only way to know the timing that gets the best response from the list is to test by sending emails at different times so that you will know which timing gives you the best response.

Regarding the question on whether it is better to link straight to the sales page or to link to the review of the product from the email, I think you will only know the results when you start driving some traffic to test different pages.

Personally, I feel marketing is all about testing different components of the business and tracking the conversions to get the best results.

Hope my humble contribution is useful

It’s often said that Mondays are the worst day for mailing out and Tuesdays are the best and the best times are between 11 AM and 2 PM EST.
But as Zack said there is not a huge difference in the day you send out nor the time!

That's interesting. I was always under the assumption that Monday's were the best days. Hmm, learn something new every day.

The first and mid-month. That is when people generally get paid. You are promoting a "money making scheme"? That doesn't sound like a good product to offer, as you may never get those same people to buy from you again.

I agree that Tuesdays in general seems to be the best day. Start with that and then test other days and times to see what works best for your list & market.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are great for me. However, only testing can tell you for sure, as lists do differ in terms of demographics.

I read a study on when Facebook users were most active. The results were that traffic spiked on weekdays at 11am, 3pm and 8pm. The biggest spike is 3pm on weekdays with Wednesday the busiest. The study also said that posts published in the am on weekdays got the most traffic.

Using that as a guideline, as to when people are online, I send out my newsletters on Tues or Weds mornings. I have definitely found a greater click thru rate then, as opposed to sending on weekends or at other times.

But that works for my traffic, there are lots of variables depending on your location, readers etc.

Only applicable if your prospects all live in the same time zone.

The answer to this question is it depends and isn’t going to be the same for everyone—what works for one person might not work for another. It depends at the very least on your market, your customers, and even the time of year.

However...surveys say best time on average would be between 8-10 AM and then early afternoon 1-2 PM.

Again...remember, it ultimately will come down to testing, testing, and more testing. Don’t neglect the fact that you won’t know for sure until you thoroughly test and measure your own individual results.
