Would You Buy This Website On Flippa? Over $6,000....

I was bored and going through Flippa and noticed this auction https://flippa.com/2648087-tv-4-pc-3...20-uniques-mth

It is a large cost but it is suppose to generate a lot of income. The website is not good looking at all to me and just does not look professional.

Would you buy a website like this for over $6,000? I don't think I would invest in it. Your opinions?

OK, I just looked into it briefly. He isn't ranking for any keywords that he is claiming. Site explorer says he only has 4 back links, and not that Site explorer is so accurate, but if he had the thousands of links he is claiming, a good deal of them would show up.

Also, his source code is crammed with his keyword so much that it's keyword stuffing.

The SEO factors are terrible. No H1, H2, H3, terrible ALT text descriptions, very little text content, and certainly no keyword variations or anything there.

I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot poll.

Normally I would say that it could be tweaked, but the domain is worthless in my opinion, so there really isn't anything to be salvaged here.

Plus, as I said before, he isn't getting paid traffic from Adwords, so he can't be making sales that way, and he mentions in the listing that he has a good deal of bought links. That's not good.

Although I actually like the ugliness of the site and his approach

  • I didn't even look at it and I wouldn't buy it.

The seller claims he doesn't know what percentage of sales come from PPC. Conversion tracking is really easy to set up, though. So I'm supposed to believe that "everything SEO has already been thought of and set up" but he doesn't know how many sales he gets from paid search?

    Pass.

Well he's not doing PPC through Google that's for sure. I got my account suspended as a result of promoting one of these products. I didn't know at the time that this wouldn't fly, and no time to correct - just bam!

Is this supposed to be a joke? Why are so many people bidding on it?

The SERP positions he lists are complete lies (it's not anywhere in the top 1000 on either google.com or .ca for "tv for pc") and he says it gets several hundred backlinks per month: most metrics show no backlinks at ALL.

    What gives?

That site does not look very original to me.

I would not touch it with a long stick.

If it is really making money like clockwork, why would they sell it???

The guy's revenue numbers don't make any sense either. He's confusing net and gross to start with, but even allowing for that, the numbers don't make sense.

As hpgoodboy pointed out ... if you're making over $3k per month with it, who in their right mind would sell it ... and especially set a reserve price at just 2 months worth of revenue.

Stinks to high heaven. Some poor buyer is about to get taken.

I would think the way to get a good deal on flippa is NOT to look for the raging money maker -- because ordinarily who would sell such a site -- look for the site that's been well set up and is STARTING to get good traffic, and buy it for it's potential after you do some more promotion work What this basically amounts to is a kind of "outsourcing" of all the early work.

Traffic stats anymore are complete rubbish. Go look on one of our own forums here---you can buy traffic!!!! Its not rocket science. 37,000 uniques/month? *laugh* This guy's site couldn't draw 37000 flies to a rib festival.

Ouch - It feels like I've traveled back in time about a decade when I look at that website. And even back then this would have been a butt-ugly site.

I was in the online TV niche for many years before Google banned advertising for it. And I can tell you that the keywords he's showing would never bring in revenue.

  • Though I do not agree that you keep every product you have simply because it's making money, this one looks like a simple affiliate setup that is dependent upon the product to succeed. If the product goes under the site will be useless.

That guy is just showing wrong site data to sell that website much fast as possible. Site is already sold though. Buyer may be impressed with the big good looking title which most of the site flipper use.

Remember that proof can be fake. However, I've learned something valuable with this site auction. Just got the new idea.

Thanks for creating this thread OP!

I didn't read the whole auction. I wouldn't touch a site that offered "free TV shows or movies" ... period.

Only a few pages and a couple links, it's easier to build a site like that than to buy. I'm fairly confident the buyer will lose money on this. Buy established sites instead, even if it's more expensive, it'll pay off in the end.

You'd have to be crazy to spend over $6000 for that site.

I reckon that at least 90% of the traffic would come from paid traffic.

It explicitly states in Flippa Rules:
Any claims to revenue or traffic in a listing must to supported by evidence. Any claims to potential revenue or traffic in a listing must clearly marked as such and be accompanied by robust workings and assumptions.
    Also contravenes this rule:

Claims to specific potential revenue or traffic numbers are expressly forbidden in listing titles.

Yeah ... like they enforce that. They'd have to get rid of half or more listings if they enforced the no income claims in titles rule or the income claims must be supported rule.

Sellers on Flippa just say anything they want with no supporting evidence whatsoever ....

hmmm the numbers don't add up to me. This site has an Alexa rank of 1,964,815, and they claim to receive 37,220 unique visitors per month.

If that site is really seeing that many unique visitors, the Alexa ranking would be much lower.

So to answer your question, no I would not buy it.
