What are your experiences in the IM niches?

For some time now I have been flirting with the idea of starting to market in one or two of the various IM sub-niches.

Three things have always held me back from the IM niches:

  1. They seem really, really boring.
  2. They seem like most of the prospects are broke.
  3. They seem like I would have to deal with a lot of people with no work ethic.

Recently, however, I have begun to wonder if I am missing out on fishing in a very large pond?

I would like to hear from fellow marketers, old and new. (Any age is accepted in my posts, LOL)

Whether or not you have experience, but especially if you do, what are your experiences and thoughts?

Is working in the IM niches worth it? Or does it take all of your time for too little actual profit?

It seems like it would be a simple matter to build very large lists. But are most of the people on them broke?

LMAO - gee what thread did you read before this one? Nice to see people are learning when they read, at any rate.

As far as IM niches - I don't hit them. They bore me, first off - and I thought that working online is supposed to be fun so I've stuck with niches that I actually really am in to.

When you consider the competition you will be dealing with - you BETTER find it fun if you are going to get into it because you are going to work your ass to the bone to be able to rise to a lucrative level against established names in the field. If you LIKE the niches, that should be a gas for you. If you don't like the niches, you are going to make your world very miserable if you insist on pursuing them.

With new models of making money online poping up almost everyday, IM gradually is becoming vague. You may find yourself jumping from one model to the other and becoming miserable by the minute. You can still get into IM and do just one thing and soon come out with buckets of money. What I think is you still have to dig deeper and you will find your share. No matter how big the big fish is, there is still space for other fishes. You just need to know how to swim

To me Internet Marketing is a wide genere of Niches not just Make Money Online or Work from home. I view myself as an Internet Marketer but I only have 1 site dedicated to making money online. My others are in fields I enjoy and have fun with. You have to love what you are doing or you might as well go get a "normal" job.

Best of luck in your search,

    Jeff

There are many ways to work with IM niches. You don't have to be guru to do it. Like JST said there many sub niches within IM. As far as them being broke that is the case and not the case. Many get into this because need money but that never keeps them from spending it. Just look at the wso section, it's full of broke newbies that STILL spend money. I hate put them on blast like that but it's the truth. Just find your thing within it and work it hard. IM can be a good place to start as long as your dedicated and are wiling to help people who look up to you.

I work in the IM niche, and here are my thoughts. First, one of the things I like about it is that it is always busy in the sense that there is always something to promote or someone re-tweaking an old idea that I might use to improve my profits. You are also one of the first ones to learn about stuff that could directly affect your business (vs. people who work in other niches). I have also met a lot of really good people who have taught me a lot.

On the down side, there are a lot of crappy products in this niche. The way I combat this is to leverage the traffic to promote something legit. That way, I don't have to worry about high refund rates. I do have some people that complain, but I deal with this by telling them the truth and moving on. They can either take my advice or not. Some people are just complainers. I have family members who are broke, but they also know I make money online. They would rather complain and be broke than do the actual work. That's on them.

With the global economy the way it is, a lot of people are having money issues. However, there are both low-cost and higher-priced products in IM. Even though there are a lot of low-cost products on CB, the up-sells make up for it. Not all people who say they are broke are actually broke. They just need to be motivated to spend the money, which they will do--if they believe what they are purchasing will bring them results in the long run. Also, a lot of the higher-priced products aren't on CB. They are usually on InfusionSoft or an independent program where you get paid via Paypal. Also, sales during the holidays tend to go down a bit.

Marketing to other marketers is very, very difficult. You must have thick skin, as they already know many of the methods and tricks you will use to get more sales.

I didn't start in this niche. I have been marketing online since 1998 in a number of different niches. It was only when I felt that I had something new and fresh to offer that I started marketing to other marketers.

This is true to an extent. However in IMO there are still many many 'new to marketing' people coming into the make money online/work from home/passive income niches. These are the easiest people to sell too.

There are a LOT of people in the Internet marketing niches. But, I do believe there is still opportunity if you choose the right niche and if you provide something totally unique from what other are doing.

Just don't create another success "blueprint." We're already buried in them!
