Twitter Meetups

A great way to grow your twitter account is to leverage your current audience.

A twitter meetup is when a group of followers discuss a topic using hashtags at a predetermined time. Sometimes this is spontaneous, such as a political debate. Other times these are planned weekly or monthly events.

Ever seen #FF? That's an example of this on too broad of a scale. A great example of what I suggest you do is #blotchat. They meet weekly for a few hours and network/discuss blogging.

Create something similar for your audience, it works really well for bringing in traffic. Then after it's over, create a list if the best commentors and their comments in a post. This way they will retweet the event since they were featured last time.

    • Yes! please share withh us how to organise this
  • I have been to a number of local Twitter meetings (called Tweetups) in Nanaimo that were set up through a free service called Tweetvite.

Makes it easy to set up and get people to RSVP.
  • What is the function of the hash tag in twitter?

    • Hashtags are simply a way of posting a tag against a set of posts so you can follow discussions based on tag - a way to organize tweets for just these sort of meetups.
