What Style Of Coaching/Guidance Do You Prefer?

Just wondering, if you were to get guidance or coaching (on IM or any other topic for that matter), which of the following would you prefer (and why)?

1) One on one calls with the coach
2) Group conference calls like a mastermind session where you get input from the entire group led by a moderator/coach
3) Online presentation program of some type (video, worksheets, etc) where you learn at your own pace and have access to email support from the coach.

I personally LOVE Mastermind sessions!!! Always wonderful being around like-minded people and inevitably someone brings up a question that I wouldn't have thought of until AFTER the session was over

    Cheers!

    Interesting post.

Personally I would go for 1), 3) as long as the content was good from 3 then I would use the calls as motivation.

I am personally a fan of step-by-step video courses. I can rewind or fast forward as much as I want. I think to this topic will receive a mixed review as some people are right brain thinkers and some left brain. but theres my two cents

    For experts, it's mastermind.

For newbies, one on one - take them by the hand works best.

IMHO -Maybe not that simple.. :-)

There is a lot of experts who just want to learn things alone, without having to join the 432nd mastermind group..

Newbies on the other hand, some prefer the setup of a mastermind that provides group support and tips.

      Its individual preference, actually :-)

I personally am a very private person. I would take a step by step video any day and let alone to go about with task. :-)

I chose Online Program With Email Support, but only because to date, that's the only kind of coaching I've had.

I reckon if you want to be the best, then all three probably wouldn't hurt.

You mean guidance or coaching to help us expand our comfort zones to conquer our most daunting goals in life?

Perhaps that's a faulty assumption on my part, so I will answer "none of the above".

I actually prefer one-on-one instant messaging sessions. That way there is a COMPLETE and easily-referenced record of what was covered in each session. It also makes giving out URLs and sending files very easy.

I do NOT like using the phone because so uch is forgotten before the conversation is even ended.

Group conferences tend to get too muddled, and there always seem to be a few people who have to be brought up to speed on things they should already know...OR...some members are so far above everybody else's heads that what they are talking about becomes confusing.

E-mail takes to long for the back-and-forth, and it does not allow for a natural conversation to develop.

    So...

One-on-one instant messaging chats are my preferred method, and also what I prefer to use when coaching others.

    All the best,
    Michael

Hmm, the instant chat option is interesting - although I would think that those who hate to type and/or those who type too slow would not want that.

        Yep.

        And those who don't like...

        1) One on one calls with the coach
        2) Group conference calls like a mastermind session where you get input from the entire group led by a moderator/coach
        3) Online presentation program of some type (video, worksheets, etc) where you learn at your own pace and have access to email support from the coach.

...well, they don't want to do THOSE.

You could potentially set up group coaching in the method that works best for the coaching you offer. However, then add the option of one-on-one coaching via calls OR text, whichever the client prefers.

That would seem to give everyone the best set of options.

        All the best,

When I started I found one on one great messaging on skype could copy all the information to go back over and then later on by speaker phone, so as to be able to take notes at the same time. Writing instructions how to do everything which of course after time you dont need to use.

Sometimes have found in emails, questions may be misunderstood, and you feel like you must be speaking a different language.

    Just my 2cents worth.

Michael's comment [set up group coaching]

A waaay back in the past I tried a program working with a program to learn how to build own website and sell products - the problem was 6 different people in the group that I was dealing with - one would tell me I should do it this way, going along fine and then another one said I should have done this as well, then another NO you dont do it that way and you dont need this. Tried to deal with one person and that was OK for a while and then ring one day and find they had been shifted to another group. Very frustrating and for a newbie which I was at that time. Tried to talk to the management but the telephone number to them was only available for 2 weeks and this was 9months down the track.

Daresay it may have been just me.
