Is this an awesome or stupid idea for my blog?

As you can see, I am building my own unique style and branding myself as the "personal development douchebag". It's all in my About Me. Basically, as with real life, no one usually thinks I have much to say, but when they do bother to listen, they get kind of impressed.

Anyway so here's my idea:

In my blog, I want to change the thumbnails of my archived posts to pictures of beautiful women. I figured it would be great to pushing my brand like, "haha have you been alden-tan.com? He has a lot of good articles and many beautiful women pictures"

or the pictures can simply be random and fun.

My concerns: 1) Pictures of beautiful models are definitely licensed and free-to-reuse pictures are mostly crap and 2) I don't want to end up bordering on becoming a sleazy/porn-ish site.

What do you think?

p.s. no offense to any women here aight? Sorry if I do!

I'm not quite sure what you are going for here, but if you want to change your archived post pictures, they should change if you reset your featured image if you are using wordpress.

    Hi Alden,

You will never know the end results until you have started testing it on your blog and driving some traffic to your blog.

I think providing good quality content on your blog and driving consistent flow of traffic to the blog is still the most important thing to do.

Once the traffic flow is consistent, then I will consider testing and tracking different components of the blog to get betters results.

Hope my humble contribution is useful to you

I think, if your plan is to be taken seriously in personal development, this is not a great idea. Even if the persona is the "douchebag of development".

It would work if you were pushing a "pick-up artist" or "how to meet women" angle and your desired client base was 90% men.

But if you want pictures of beautiful women to drive an "oh wow, check out this site of beautiful women" crowd it won't really add any perceived value in your target audience for personal development. Unless that personal development is "geez, how do I pick up more chicks".

Else, I think you will turn off the majority of women and many men.

I think the idea that pictures of beautiful women sell anything is very dated, unless they are actually relevant to your niche.

Ye I think you should spend some time thinking about who is interested in personal development and who would end up reading your blog.

I personally like the idea, but then I am 26 and know about personal development. Most other 26 year olds don't.

From my experience, most people into personal development are 40+ and a lot of them are women so think about it.

Interesting. I always thought "personal development" applied to any adults, 18 onwards.

I would definitely love to hear about your experience.

At least I got a good laugh from your about page: " started this blog because I am sick of working so hard my whole life and mostly feeling ****ty. I aim to earn a **** load of money off this blog one day. I want to be able to do what I love, work low hours and travel whenever I want. Then I can tell my friends **** like, “Yeah man I don’t need to take off from work, I ****ing love my work in fact! All I do is sit at cafes and write ****!”".... Ahahaha

    Yo guys,

Thanks for your replies and comments!

I guess when I said personal development douchebag, it actually does cover a wide range of topics/niches. I have some upcoming posts I am going to write on that are about meeting chicks, fitness and like, how to be a real guy kind of thing.

With the wide variety of topics in mind and also my apparently humorous nature, or so I have been told I thought of going with the idea to see the reaction and perhaps increase branding.
