Do I need an EIN for my new LLC?

Hey warriors,

I just registered my own LLC and I would like to know if it is recommended to apply for an EIN for it.

I have no employees, but I don't know if it is good to put myself as an employee of my own LLC...

I am not too familiar with this stuff, so if anyone here has his/her own LLC and could give me a hand I would appreciate it.

I'd get one, if for the only reason of being able to use it instead of my social security number on all the affiliate sites I'm signed up under.

I think this is a good idea. No reason to have your SSN online!

    Get a CPA. It's cheap.

As you're in Puerto Rico, local requirements and your needs may differ. But personally for an LLC I normally will obtain an EIN for use with any affiliate/vendor accounts as well as for banking purposes.

But professional advice (such as a CPA or attorney) is a better place to turn for such advice than a marketing forum. We can speak from our experiences and opinions, but few (if any) among us are able to give you true legal counsel.

Yes, because the LLC will be filing a tax from separate from your personal return.

It will thus need a TIN, or taxpayer identification number - which will be an EIN.

In other words, you get an EIN not because you have employees, but because it serves as your TIN.

i can vouch for kindsvator's statement as well. Get an EIN. That is basically the point of getting an LLC. is to seperate your businesses liability from all your personal stuff.

also go and talk to a CPA in your town.
