The true measure of a person is how he (or she) treats those that have nothing to offer him (or her). If your heart is filled with love and respect for your fellow man, then show it.

If someone needs help, then by all means, help them. But at the same time, help them help theirselves.

There is more then one way to give a man a fish, and teach him how to fish at the same time.

They are also buyers and we all know that we only buy products from people we like/trust/know...

I'll buy from Ewen Chia any day of the week because a few years ago when I asked for his advice...he gave it!

I am one of the "newbies" have purchased the Affiliate Conspiricy coarse and also purchased a lot of tools like Nichebot, Hexatrack, Speed PPC, Keyword Elite... and some others, but what i am really having a hard time doing is the art of "selecting an offer" to promote. Is there any of you that could help me to do this. Any pointers or tips would really help me out

Honestly, the best advice I could give you is to pick a clickbank product that is "in demand" (weight loss products being a good niche example), and go for it. Don't let analysis paralysis stop you from getting started. Just do it. Take action now.

It depends on what you're trying to be successful at. Everyone measures success in their own way, and no two ways are identical.

The most successful and greatest man I ever knew didn't make millions a year. He was cabinet maker who loved working with wood. Whenever he started building something, a desk, cabinet, table, or whatever, he always put his heart into it, and you could see that just by looking at the finished product.

He told me once that he got as much satisfaction from watching the expressions on his customers faces when they looked at the item he had built for them for the first time as he did while building it.

He was a soft spoken man who never had an unkind word for anyone. He and his wife of 50+ years raised their two children and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

And he never made more than $15,000 / year.

But he taught me, by example, some of the most important lessons I have ever learned.

      Family
      Love
      Respect
      Do what you love
Believe in yourself and your dreams
      Never give up
There is no such thing as failure
The Journey is more important than the destination
And a hundred other small, but no less important, lessons that I'll never forget.

He passed away in 1991 of cancer, with his family by his side.

And while I have met many people since who have built their own business and made significantly more money, myself included, few have truly felt or experienced the love of life, joy, and happiness my grandfather had and shared with everyone he met.

First and foremost yes I am a noob at IM.
These are some of my dilemmas and hesitation to all this hype. The way I see helping a noob out benefits the mentor/coach in a few ways.
    1. Teaching tends to make the teacher sharper with their own product
    2. Makes lifelong friends
    3. Develops there interpersonal skills
    4. Could earn alot of revenue

What I am basically saying I see alot of people charging this and that and as a noob I am hesitant to purchase from every tom dick and harry.
Why not have an approach like this:
Mentor - noob I will help you but on a few conditions here are my qualifications (xyz)
I can show you how to effectively make a few dollars from I'm but in doing so your first 2 months of revenue are mine for payment/time/teaching.

This way the teacher learns develops as well as the noob (student)

The cycle could be endless and generate profit for both parties.

    Your thoughts?
Am I in left field on this?
Hopefully this does not look like a bunch of rambled on garbage.

    Agreed
There are too many people out there that dont want to help the newbies.
They just want to point out when they are wrong to make themselves feel clever.

I like helping newbies because I like seeing that light bulb turn on above their heads...when everything you're trying to explain to them finally manages to click. I guess it's the same kind of feeling that a teacher gets when they see their students finally grasping a difficult concept that they were having trouble with. It's a great feeling.

So many newbies don't want help if it means they have to work. Many quit because they don't want to work, and then blame people for not helping them. That's been my experience.

Hi Joshua ... yeah that is rewarding.

I recently helped a lady who was spending a huge amount on PPC with no sales at all ... it was as if she had been GURU blinded and was not using common sense i.e. stop spending a shed load on things that are not selling.

Her relief at getting some one to point out the obvious and help her to grasp the need to begin putting proper foundations in to building her business made my day.

Reason Number 8: To stroke your ego.

Let's keep it real here, Warriors.

If you were a legitimate newbie in this house....you'd probably feel as welcome as the new kid... in a new school.... getting introduced by the teacher in front of the entire class of snickering 6th grade peckerwoods.

Nobody despises dumb asses in the guise of "newbies" more then me....but at the same time.....I often wonder why so many people around this joint treat those new to the game....like ******* red headed step children who need to be categorized and quarantined.

Especially those who actually show up in this house for the right reasons.

Most newbies get handled one of two ways here....

They get talked down to like they're dumb asses...by Warriors who in many cases are worse off then the newbie is. Go figure.

Or...they get the WIN ONE FOR THE GIPPER SPEECH...which is often equally as insulting considering a lot newbies are looking for information...not motivation.

Newbie hazing is often justified with some...but others who just want help don't deserve the bullshit they often get from "smart Warriors."

I don't need 7 reasons to answer this op.

      Just one.

You help a genuine newbie for the same reason you help your mother, brother, sister, lover.....or friend.

Cuz it's the right thing to do. No warm and fuzzy speeches needed to make you feel better about yourself, either.

        Amen.

The first thing I learned when I joined this forum was that I was going to have to deal with a lot of emotionally retarded people who's only strategy for feeling good about themselves was to attack new (and ostensibly weak) people.

If you are a Newbie, learn that quick.

Then, look for and communicate with people like VegasVince and others in this forum who are Benevolently Intelligent and Articulate.

IMHO - This is probably the third best place for you to learn the ropes.

Second? Noticing all the marketing out there that's working and reverse engineering it. (Take apart the watch to figure out how it works.)

First? Pick something and get to work. Try anything. Get a plan, take some action, measure the results. Keep what works, and chalk the failures up to education expense.

I heard Joe Sugarman speak at a Frank Kern Platinum Mastermind Group meeting a few months ago. He spoke for over an hour about one failure after another after another.

After a while, I was wondering, "Why is he going on for so long about his failures?"

I was actually starting to lose my respect a little.

But then he hit us between the eyes.

He said "I've failed more than anyone I know. But that's why I'm so successful."

So if you are New - DO!

          Damn....!

I had this really great response all typed up to post in this forum...and then I run into the post by VegasVince....and damn it if he didn't better articulate what I was trying to say then I ever could! :-)

          That's a hell-of-a-post VegasVince! Two thumbs up!

@JoshuaCreighton: I sometimes feel like a school kid who has been doing "short division" for months, who then walks into Math Class 1-day and now has to start doing LONG DIVISION...Bad anaolgy, I know..but it's the only thing I could think of at the moment. There's just times when I'm sitting in front of my computer, scratching my head, saying to myself.."I know there's another step I'm supposed to be taking after I did A, B & C, but I can't remember and I can't find it in my math book notes...man! I wish there was someone I could turn to who could just quickly point me in the right direction..

@Gringo: That's the philosophy I hope to one day make use of, when I start teaching others what I've learned...though this is years away! I think this type of mind-set is 'win-win' for both Mentor/Teacher and Student/Newbie....

Besides being rewarding, it's very enjoyable just to be able to work with someone first hand that shares the same interest and goals in IM as you. I wish I could find someone local to partner up with and teach that had the same drive/enthusiasm as I do for IM and tackle it head on together. If things go well, then (hopefully) you end up with a business partner you can count on to do good work.

It gets lonely working on IM projects sometimes when the people you hang out with don't have interest in what your doing. I think having a partner/student to share your experiences with helps to keep you motivated. Just my .02.

It's good for the soul and for business.

The more competent online marketers the better!

    For example:

In the future there will be hundreds if not thousands of content networks controlled by marketers as we share prospects, traffic and profits.

    My eternal message to newbies????

Get a simple plan and then work the plan. ( internet business model )

There is no need for confusion.

Newbies only have a few choices such as...

    - Niche Affiliate Model

    * Sell products and services to people that do not want to make money on the net.

    - Make Money Affiliate Model

    * Sell products and services to people that do want to make money on the net.

    - Info-Product Model

    * Create and the sell your own products/services:

    - Resale/PLR Model

    * Purchase already created materials and claim them as your own product

    - Adsense Type Model

    * Provide content & make money when someone clicks on an ad around the content:

    - CPA Model

    * Make money when people fill out a form or survey etc.

There is no need for confusion.

Select a model and get busy!

All the best to you and yours!

All the reasons are wonderful but I'm getting sick and tired of all the whining from newbies ( some 1 year people ) about info overload and how there's a lot/too much info to sift through before taking any action.

If you don't start on the right foot, you'll either fail of never take any action.

Starting on the right foot in my humble opinion means...

Picking a internet income plan or model from 4 or 5 suitable ones for a newbie.

    Then...

    Actually taking action!

This attitude and plan of attack will eliminate all of the info-overload and lack of action stuff from newbies whom are serious about making money.

Here's my thread on selecting an internet based income plan or model.

People of character help the others in need, be it their sister, friend, neighbour......... or an IM newbie.

You don't need reasons to help somebody who really needs help, just put yourself in his/her shoes..

When you help somebody and make them feel better in that certain situation, you feel better, you actually make the world better.

Most of the reason I am so eager to learn how to do this and be successful is to help others that I care about who are struggling financially (mainly family) get their heads above water.

I have really struggled to learn things so far but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It would be easier to have someone hold my hand all the way down it but would I really be able to teach others? I don't know.

I do believe that what I learn and the success I achieve I will be able to teach to others. That is what I am most eager to do.

interesting post. the more people you help, the more people help you. I'm a newb but I'm close to a successful IMer who has given me nothing but help. He became successful not only by working really hard but by networking with the right people that could benefit from each other. help is always mutual. we arent talking about charity here (although there's nothing inherently wrong with that either)

I think we should help newbies in the same way we would want to be helped whenever we are learning new skills in life and business.

      It's a little bit like:

"How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the
young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the
striving and tolerant of the weak and the strong.

Because someday in life you will have been all of these."

Newbie or not, I think you should treat people and help people in the same way you would want to be treated. Not only is it good Karma but there was a time when everybody was a newbie! And it very well could happend that the person you help could wind up being the next Frank Kern! I think we would all like to be in that guys inner circle.

Wow it's wonderful to hear all of you so willing to give a hand. I have yet to find anyone that is willing to offer help myself(other than a line in a pm here and there) but it's great to know there are people out there like you all. I work full time and spend about 90% of my free time working on IM, trying to find something that works. Hopefully one day I'll find that breakthrough im looking for!

Agree. And in fact, there are many newbies actually will mentioned out your good deed of helping them out. Plus not just only fame you get, but also they will help you back in return of getting more people to know you.

I have had many seasoned, but relatively unnoticed, Warriors assist and help me in the past. I am not new to this forum, but recently needed, for personal reasons, to start a new id. These Warriors have been wonderful, asking nothing in return!

That being said, helping someone with IM is not too much different than when I taught school. Many times, I had students who wanted guidance before they even attempted the assignment. So, I began to tell them I would help them only after I saw that they had attempted the assignment on their own. I think that same principle should work for someone willing to assist a newbie in IM. Newbies: pick one strategy and work it!

It is also true that some tasks and tips come so naturally to someone who has been in the business for awhile that they forget to mention those important, yet common to them, items... I guess assuming everyone should know them. When you are new to something, you don't know anything and these necessary moves don't ever enter your head because they are nonexistent to you. I don't know if I'm explaining this right, so I hope you get the gist.

Again, thanks to all the helpful Warriors on this forum...keep it up!

    Bert

I initially set up my online business to provide products for those already with some knowledge of marketing but I was finding myself getting more enquiries and interest from newbies.

With hindsight, setting up a business aimed at attracting the intermediate or advanced marketer cannot work for very simple reasons.
    1. Only a small percentage of newbies make it through to become an intermediate to advanced marketer so there is a smaller market.
    2. Of those that have made it through they are most likely only going to continue with the people who elevated them from their newbie status
I am therefore revising my own business model to focus on helping the newbie to elevate them to the status of successful online entrepreneur.

Now I know many will fail because they under estimate the initial work required to get a business off the ground (that's right, no magic bullet here), but of those that do succeed there is a great personal and financial satisfaction.

99.99% of people who get free anything including help and advice dont value it, Put a price on your expertise and they suddenly see value in it and act on it.

can help far more people that way

Damn good point there! It will happen to you if you don't put a price on it. Lets say you put in a good amount of time with a person trying to help them reach the next level. You can tell they are beginning to get it a little but have yet to make money just yet. Along comes something else that is offered for free and they decide that the new idea sounds better than what you are showing them. They up and leave you and what your teaching to jump to something else. Of course they have to start all over again but they won't be looking at it that way. It will frustrate the shit out of you that you spent all that time with them and then they just left.

Charge a little money for the same thing and you'll have their attention a lot longer. Then if they decide to leave, at least you got paid for your time. When you show the ones that stay with you how to make money, you now have that "people stick with the ones who got them there" group you want.
