Finding Forums that are Soon to Close

Does anyone have any good tips for finding forums that are closing or shutting down soon?

I used to be able to occasionally find some by doing a search for "forum closing" and related terms, but then there is a ton of irrelevant stuff to sort through.

The problem is that the type of forums I am looking for tend to just get shut down without much notice, or the owner abandons them and they die of neglect, so they've lost any value before you happen upon them.

Added to that is that, these days, people are too quick to just jump to Facebook or something not really forum-like at all.

Anyone have any tips for finding troubled forums?

  • What about a search for: forum "registration is closed"
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • "forum" "soon to close"
      "forum" "close the forum"
      "shut down the forum"
      "forum" "due to inactivity"
      "forum" "lack of members"

I found a few with the above terms. I would also look at other forms where people are complaining that their forums are dying, they can't get any new members, and they're asking how to get more members - these people may be fed up and ready to move on.

      Hope this helps.

  • How about "sorry forum closing"?

Actually, my first thought was to do a search for "niche+forum", and then go to the end of the search results. The problem is that a lot of forums that are closing may be doing so because they're not indexed at all.

    Hmm...interesting question, Dan.

    All the best,
    Michael
