Weebly versus Wix, which is better?

Hi,
I am debating offering a service on fiverr, of building a quick, simple site on one of the free website platforms.

I have been hearing some shocking things, how some people will pay pretty good to have a simple website designed for them.

I love creating great looking websites. Now I just need to find a way to monetize what I love!

My question: Do you know which is better, easier, or more popular, Weebly or Wix? :confused:

    Which ever you can make sites easily and take you less time would be good.

    If you'll do fiverr and it clicks, you'll be loaded with orders, so think which of the
    two you'll be able to work on best.

    i dont know much about weebly, but wix is flash based. which is the devil, and should be avoided at all costs

    I do big projects for small businesses using WordPress (self-hosted).

    But the other day my 9 year old daughter and her friend wanted to design a website, and her friend showed her Wix. I personally hate Flash, and it crashed the browser (losing their unsaved work) a few times, so I told them to stop it and set up a Weebly site instead.

    It was simple enough for her to use.

    If you're going to do this as a Fiverr gig, then I'd choose something very simple, such as a one page 'online business card' or resume/CV.

    You might want to do something similar to about.me (or even setting up about.me sites).

    Yeah wix is all flash based. I have used weebly in the past and it is pretty simple to use. I have not used wix yet although I plan to for an offline campaign I plan to start. So I'll be checking it out for sure. But you might be able to find some business that can benefit from a flash based site like photographers and graphic designers. Just a thought though. Good luck with whatever you decide.

    Whatever you choose, just make sure you're absolutely clear with the person that you're taking their money to design a website in a free software which they could probably do themselves.

      I can only say I've had a bad experience with Wix. Hidden within their terms of service is a clause which says they autorenew your subscription every year. I didn't think to look for such a clause so I was surprised to find a bill for $114 a year after I first bought my premium subscription. Unpleasant to say the least.

      Apart from that the interface is not very user friendly.
