Aweber still sending confirmation email?

I have recently set up a new list in aweber.

The confirmation email is turned off. I have had 100+ email subs in the last few days, but about 20-30 of them say under the last message section "confirmation"

Now I don't think that this is happening to all who put their email in, as I have tested it numerous times with my personal addresses and never had to confirm.

Any ideas as to why this would happen?

Thanks guys

why would you want to turn the confirmation email off?

I thought with Aweber a part of their TOS was that people had to Double opt-in?

Its better to ad confirmation email. Aweber likes that.

Sorry to hear that you are having this problem, it works fine for me.

I reckon the quickest, fastest and simplest solution to this would be to just contact Aweber on live chat.

No it's not....That's why when you create a list or a form you get the option to turn the confirmed opt in on or off. They recommend you have it on but it's not in their TOS, otherwise they wouldn't make it such a clear choice when you create a form.

      No you don't.

With respect I assume you and Shane don't use Aweber?

I say that because I can't see how anyone could miss the great big on/off button regarding confirmed opt in when you create a form.

      Aweber give you the option.

It's one of these mysterious urban myths, a little like "Ezine Articles won't publish an article that's already been published elsewhere". It's actually never been true, and it isn't true now. But understandably, it's what many people think, just because so many other people think it, too, and tell them so.

I have five single opt-in lists with Aweber (and some confirmed ones, too).

This happens oddly to me as well - it happens to have 2-3 subscribers that says it's waiting for confirmation whereas the other few hundred one single opt-in, and good-to-go.

    It's weird though.

Mine is working fine. Aweber keeps notifying whenever you do something that it doesn't suggest. I tried to use a seperate mailing address. Aweber kept sending me mails as my list might break federal law. I think keeping default options like confirmation mails should be used.

The reason it is still doing this is because the form you are using is set to use double opt-in...

Even though you may turn it off using the Aweber dashboard you must also make sure to update your web form.

This happens when you try to test subscribe multiple times from the same IP address.
Aweber asks for confirmation as a measure of security if this happens.

I can find no way to turn off confirmed optin in aweber. Very frustrating when there are videos in youtube showing how it is done. The on/off button does not exist for my lists.

I believe Coby is right. Make sure the web form is not set to double
opt in and you should be able to turn it off. Aweber prefers double
opt in but it's not always relevant. If someone BUYS a product and
you want them to subscribe to get access there's no reason for a
double opt in. But if they're just getting a free report or something
then double opt in makes sense to build a better quality list.

A few reasons why Aweber does this.

IF you have confirm turned OFF, aweber will still send confirmation out IF:

    1. Aweber suspects that email and/or ip of the subscriber of suspicious activity.
    2. If signup is coming from the API, then it ALWAYS confirms subscriber (no matter the settings)
