How do you self host videos?

Up until now I've been hosting on YouTube and embedding the videos on my squeeze pages/etc. with the autoplay feature on. But with a YouTube video I'm sure some people get the feeling that they could get the info straight from YouTube for free...especially if I'm including the videos in a member's area.

So how do I self host the videos using Wordpress? And how do I set up the players so that people don't have controls to pause or fast forward (i.e. video sales letters)?

Thanks in advance.

You could always set up your own "you tube" style script for a video section within your own domain/website.

There are several free ones available and are easy to install. Most cases are 1 click installs from your host.

You will need to make sure your host supports ffmpeg and has other required modules, if you are on shared hosting.

This would be the most professional set up, in my opinion anyway

    Hope this helps!

You can sell videos as a download using wordpress . use wordpress e commerce plugin for that .

To promote the sell of that video first post first few minutes for free . Create separate video using video cutter .

That is a great way to get your web hosting company to shut you DOWN perm. Video is a great hog on bandwidth and memory. These will send you an email citing excessive use of resources.

    Dan,

going by the above, what you are looking is a setup like Amazon S3 hosting and easy video player combination. EVP is expensive though and like a different poster mentioned you can get open source video players like the JW player.

With EVP you can do many things with your videos like change the players, embed buttons and affiliate links and even delay content on the page if you wish to do so.

Amazon S3 is very cheap to be honest and I was pleasantly surprised when I got my first bill.

I think this is what you are looking for
