Confirmation page Question....

Hello Warriors,

I need some advice. I see a lot of marketers using what should be their confirmation page as an upsell or a one time offer for the product that they are selling.

In your opinion, should I replace my confirmation page with an upsell or a OTO or should I use it as a true confirmation page. I have always been a little unsure about this matter so I thought that I would ask this question here in the WF.

Please respond with your feedback.

Thank you,
William Gilreath

Well, I'm not an expert, so don't take this as sound advice, but I think that it could increase your sales if your TY page is met by impulse buyers, obviously. (No s**t Sherlock...)

However, on the other side of the coin, it could potentially harm the responsiveness of those people joining your list, almost instantly. They could be thinking "great, another offer, I've just bought from you dude".

Though some might argue that, those people who are going to get pissed off by an OTO/upsell aren't likely to buy (or buy again as the case may be) anyway.

This might not be the kind of answer you were looking for, but you may have to just bite the bullet and test it for yourself.

      Hope that helped somewhat.

      All the best,

      Jamie

Studies show that having a one-time offer on your thank you page can get like 30% of people to buy again because they're excited (about the information you'll be giving them) and perhaps there's a bit of reciprocity at play too (he just gave me this free report so I'll buy this other product from him). Obviously, individual results may vary.

What I do is just make the offer on the confirmation page--a paragraph worth of text with a coupon code and link to sales page. I think it's less obnoxious that way but I have not tested it against other options.

Thanks Tracy for your insight on this matter. I really like the way you make an offer on the confirmation page and offer a one time offer on the thank you page. I think I may test this out myself.

If you want to upsell on your thankyou page i would suggest a soft sell.

For example something with a free trial which they can upgrade to buy if they like. That way you are still offering value.

In fact thanks for reminding me I had kept meaning to do the same but getting distracted. I will be putting an offer of 500 Free Targeted Visitors to your site/blog on my thankyou page.

    William,
That is an interesting question but are you referring to a page confirming say a subscription to a service you offer or rather a thank you for a one off sale.

In the former you will have ample opportunity to sell to subscribers in the future so it not necessary to upsell, however in the case of the one off sale perhaps you can strike while the iron is hot and gain an additional sale.

It depends upon what your OBJECTIVE is for that page.

Do you primarily want them to confirm their e-mail?

Then focus the page on getting them to go to their e-mail
and click on the link to confirm their subscription.

(You can always place the upsell on the Thank You page
that they go to once they confirm their e-mail).

Do you want them to buy a product?

Then focus the page on getting them to buy.

I focus each page on getting people to take ONE action
and then I test and track the effectiveness of the request.

Now we are getting somewhere. Thanks Shaun, I really like your advice. I think that I will focus on getting my subscribers to confirm their email address and then place an upsell on the thank you page.

    Thanks Shaun,
