Hello everybody!

I am newbie in IM, but have more that 10 years experience in web developing. My friend advice me to try to develop some software for Internet Marketers and sell them as WSO.

So, it's very impressive, but I have no idea what are the prices for software in IM. I saw, that simple reports and info-products cost around 4-25$.

I am interested in developing small software as WP plug-ins, short-codes, separate PHP scripts and small web sites.

Somewhere I saw big program like Market Samurai and it's very big. I mean that it has lot's of functions. I want to do opposite - for each problem - separate solution.

So, my question is: what is the price for software in IM?

Thank you!!!

I would recommend doing an advanced forum search looking for keywords like "software" and "plug-in" in the title of threads in the WSO section. You can then check prices to get an idea of what people are charging. In fact, here is a link to the search for "software" to get you started.

Lots of variation in prices for software in IM - much the same as there's lots of variation in prices for software in other areas.

There's stuff out there for $7 or even less, Incansoft's range at typically just under $30, some of the specialist SEO stuff goes into the hundreds.

Also depends on whether you're going for a one-off price or a subscription or maintenance.

Narrow down your search then do some research.

Or if you're close to a production version, maybe offer it out for free to some of the longer established warriors in return for a review.

    Hi Alex

I had another gentlemen in the forum ask a similar question. My advice to you is to think about it while you are in the process of designing the software itself. It's definitely in demand and a welcome addition to any marketer's arsenal.

Personally I've seen IM software range from $17 to $50. Although Iwouldn't stop there in terms of selling. Create vital updates and supplementary products for your original works and sell them to previous customers for small amounts while brand new customers can purchase the whole package for example $197 .

The initial price is important but keep thinking of ways to monetize your product so that it works for you in the long run. Best of luck to you.

NOT TRUE! The lowest price is ZERO!!!!!!! One autoresponder once sold at an average of $4! That is NOT a misprint! WHY? I mean MOST competitors that seemed to have FEWER features often charged close to $100 or MORE! Well, the $4 one was written by an idiot that didn't understand file locking! Get two customers within a certain period, and your WHOLE customer list would be WIPED! The period starts at maybe a second, but can grow to be HOURS, if you are LUCKY! IMAGINE! A list of a billion customers, and bob comes in at 4PM! It is GROWING! ANN comes in at 5PM, and the list now has ONE person in it, ANN!!!!! You can see, $4 was WAY over priced!

Price it high enough to cover your costs and then make a profit on top of that.

The biggest mistake software sellers make when they're starting out is to create a product and then find out how much other people are selling similar software for, and then sell it for a bit cheaper.

What it comes down to is this:

How much will selling this product cost you in time for things like customer support and ongoing development?

(This is different for every software product)

It's definately worth researching similar software, but also make sure you find a baseline for a profit margin and don't go under that.

If your software isn't commercially viable, then you'll need to look at the design to see if you can cut your post-sale costs down.

But remember it's better to have no sales at a "profitable" sales margin than it is to have 100 sales at a financial loss. At least then you can take it back to the drawing board and figure out how to fix the issue rather than burying yourself in a non-profitable business that'll end up burning both you and your customers.

Price points are VERY important in the software industry and shouldn't be taken lightly.

    cheers

    Congratulations, you've a great idea.

This is a tip and hope it'll be helpful to decide a price. Find products which are similar to the product what you're willing to develop, and check their functions as well as prices.

    1. More and advanced functions than currently available products = High price
    2. Similar functions as currently available products= same price, little high or little low price.
    3. Less functions than currently available products = low price.
