Where do you go to find a quiet place?

I hope this is not considered off-topic, but when I was answering the question about where I do my best brainstorming, I realized that I have been thinking a lot about this recently.

Especially, as it relates to brainstorming new ideas.

Is it just me, or is it getting harder to find 'a quiet place'?

Try driving in your car to some lake / forest... or try to hike somewhere quiet.

One good idea to brainstorm is to put a link in your Sig. to a product that you are selling.

I live by waterfalls up in Northern California. Not sure where you live but being outside and in nature usually does it for me. Definitely helps me reflect on life and in business.

    Balance is key!

    cheers!

I guess my point is that there just seems to be a LOT of random noise in the world these days. Or maybe I just notice it more.

And driving, while I agree it is a great way to minimize the noise somewhat, is not what I would consider a quiet place.

Since were close I can help you out:

      1) Coxhall Gardens in Carmel
      2) On the walking paths at Fort Ben State Park
      3) On a bench by the city's canal downtown
      4) On rented canoe/kayak at Eagle Creek
      5) There's a hidden very small park on the East side of the Eagle Creek airport, usally not many people around
      6) Starbucks/Barnes and Noble actually are my top two especially during winter
      7) the rennovated central library downtown is quite amazing now
      8)IUPUI libary - huge - quiet - take parking $$
      9) Fall Creek has a few different areas of solitude - google fall creek map
10)Indianapolis International Aiport Cell Phone Parking Lot - think that covers it!!!

Well best thing to do is to get away from the city. Take a break from the place. My house has a river in the back so it's a great place as my quiet place. Nature I think is one of the best places to find peace and start brainstorming.

    Hi EAGLE

    Funny thing is,

my father was born deft and always seeking a way to have a hearing ability. Through technology and experimental operations he could get between 30 to 40 percent.

He may have often heard things that he wished he hadn't but I would doubt that he would wish for silence again.

Be careful what you with for, some say.

Try listening to Adagio music with headphones. Even if, like me, you're not a classical music aficionado, Adogio music is quiet and soothing which can help with the thought process.

For some quiet time to brain storm, I like to get away from my house. I take a walk at night on the side of the bay. It is a 5 minute walk to the bay from my house. It is quiet and relaxing.

The world is no longer quiet and you almost have to create noise within headphones to escape. I like to go to a quiet coffee shop, the library, the park, or if nobody is home just into my room where I cannot be disturbed.

It does seem to harder, but I guess we expose ourselves to more stress when we go after something.

Quite places could also mean having some peace in our hearts and minds, right? Why don't you try just stay in your room, relax and listen to The Carpenters? Well, it always brings me peace in my heart and mind. I hope this does not sound corny, at all. :p

2am-4am in the morning. Everyone else is asleep. Not a lot going on outside. I can just sit up and work. Obviously, I don't do it often, but seriously, best way to find quiet and you're near all your work stuff too.

My gigantic bath tub! Sometimes I even play webinar recordings on my phone to help spark new ideas or I just allow complete silence and relaxation so I can think!

It tends to be the opposite of your norm. If you are in a busy urban environment, then nature, peace and quiet will probably work best. If the slower pace of your live, maybe the shock to your system but something that moves you at a faster pace like a run or jet skiing. I think the variety as a stimuli for your mind and soul is what helps it focus.

Living in a rural area helps. It's always quiet here. But when I need to think, I go for a run. My block is about 2 miles and after about a mile, my mind clears and I get great ideas. Another option is to invest in earplugs. Good earplugs will block every sound except for your own breathing, which can be very soothing. Even sitting on your back porch with earplugs can create a quiet haven. I don't recommend earplugs while driving or walking though.

I find intense exercise - particularly martial arts (in my case Muay Thai) help me escape my mind. The level of concentration and near exhaustion really clears my mind to almost nothing.

On a similar note i spent a couple weeks training in rural Thailand. A strict diet and exercise routine (basically train, eat, sleep) and the absense of advertising, interruption, worry about day to day nothings and i suppose the focus of getting through the training was the best cleansing my mind has had for as long as i can remember. It really was a very calming experience and pulled my mind into a focus point i'd never really felt before. I'd recommend it to anyone.

The only place that is quiet and good for brainstorming is at the beach. A private villa own by a friend can help me out from the noisy neighborhood i have at home.

I do a lot of my thinking whilst driving, or i sometimes head up onto the hills in the car and just sit quietly, to be honest i also think a lot whilst being active, running, walking, washing the dishes etc, then again i am a deep thinker all round.

All the best in your search for peace and quiet,
    Steven.

I walk along the beach sometimes. Even now its turning to winter. I also love to sit back in my easy chair in the living room in the evenings with a book. Turn my phone on silent so I am not tempted to check emails or sales etc.
I love to just curl up with a good book sometimes for inspiration or relaxation.
The bath for me is a quiet relaxing place too!
