Super tired, 4 days with no sleep, and nowhere to go

Long story short im 18 years old and my parents kicked me out of my house. I have been homeless and struggling since june 21st 2011. I have $6 for food. I have no job or car. I have my smart phone because that's the only thing my dad pays for me. I have now been awake for 96 hours straight. I want to be successful so bad, but for the last few months I have only been able to scrape up enough money for food every 3 days to survive. I need to get my life on track and fast. Im still young and have time for lots of opportunities in my life. All the homeless shelters in the area are full for 2 months and by then it will be snowing and cold.

I am asking my fellow warriors if any of you know a way I can get enough money in 1 day so I can get a motel room to sleep. Post everything in this thread because I don't have enough posts to private message.

I need serious answers only so I can make the most out of my time. Thanks everyone in advance for the help. I really, really appreciate it.

  • Get a job. This is not the time to be thinking about getting into internet marketing. Trust me, IM won't put money on your pocket by tomorrow. Especially if you've never made money online before.

If I were you, I'd work things out with my parents. Odds are, there is some type of reason as to why they kick you out at 18 years of age.

I'd then get a job flipping burgers or whatever. Then when my life is somewhat on track, I'd check out the ideas of this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...desperate.html
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • This link will supply you with a bit of information

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...desperate.html
  • Im trying to get a job. All the jobs I can get at the moment at hard labor jobs which I don't mind doing, but its hard to do hard labor for 8 hours a day 5 days a week on no sleep.
    • [3] replies
    • I know from personal experience it's hard.

I can tell you though if it meant working with little to no sleep for a week or two I would do my best to tough it out knowing I would get to buy a room to stay in with my first check.
      • [1] reply
    • If you can't find a friend to stay with, go to a public park nearby and sleep in your coat on a bench. Not the safest idea but you won't stay sane any longer without sleep.

It would only be temporary if you took the job. You'll get paid in less than 1 month and you can get yourself a motel room. Assuming it's minimum wage that's ($7 x 8 hours x 5 days x 4 weeks) $1120 in a month. Trust me, that's alot better than you would have done in your first month in IM.
    • Why do you need to not sleep?

I'm a bit confused now. You can get hard labour jobs, which anyone homeless person with a need for food would jump at but you don't want to do that because it's hard doing it without sleep.

You've now been four days without sleep and you're remarkably responsive considering, so why the need to not sleep?

I'm just thinking it may be hard to do hard labour on no sleep but it'll be far harder to have no sleep and no food at the same time.

EDIT - How are you feeling? I ask because I've been looking online about the effects of sleep deprivation. By 4 days most people are in a really bad way. In fact I'm pretty surprised you can type on your phone so well. I think you need to find somewhere to sleep pretty urgently and if it has to be outside, then it has to be outside.

  • I feel for you, man, I really do.

Have you been to any of the relevant government agencies that can help?

Have you tried any big churches in your area that have services to help you? (I don't mean a worship service, there are some churches that help people like you with various programs)

Working out of desperation is never a great thing, in my opinion.

As far as work, have you been to any and all employment agencies both public and private?

Is there a Walmart in your area? They will be hiring more workers for the holidays.

Any friends you can stay with?

I just hope you can figure something out, as being totally desperate like you are and trying to make some money fast in IM isn't always going to work.
  • Thanks for the link and quick response skid_roe. And what are relevant government agencies? And what are employment agencies? Thanks.
  • Goverment agencies could be a multitude of things, ranging from homeless shelters to the city itself giving you a coupon for a room for one night.

As for employment agencies, most major cities have temp jobs you can look into, try talking to your chamber of commerce, city council and city hall.
  • They are in the process of building a new walmart about 4 miles from where I am. I am going to walk there soon to get some sleep because it is unlikely anyone will be there and workers there may need help building the new walmart in the morning. That's probably my best bet at this point.

    • Another thing you may be able to think about is camp grounds. You would still be sleeping outside but at least staying there you can start a fire and have showers and public restrooms at your disposal.

Not the best alternative but it's something at least.
    • I'm sure builders have at least heard of coming upon someone sleeping in the building they working on in the morning, but I don't know how they'd react if they found you there. If it's your only bet, though, don't know what else to tell you.

What state are you in, if I may ask, and where do you get your internet access?
  • The answers have already been given above -

    However, a word of encouragement....

I know what it's like to be where you are. I've been there. Really. It sux and it feels like there is no way up.

But you've got to believe. Believe that *it* (whatever "it" is) is possible. Even if you don't know how.

Know that it's OK to ask for help, and the ASK. Go find someone who can point you in the right direction to get Government help... mind you, I don't know what country you're in so I don't know what's available. But do it.

Forget about earning money online; in fact for get the online thing completely at this time - get a job, casual, full time, part time - whatever - just get it.

And until you get a job, make getting a job your job.

Don't believe the bullsh** that's it's hard - just do it. And keep doing it until it happens.

    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • Paul barrs and skid_roe, if there was an "add as friend" button on this forum I would definitely be button mashing it right now. Thanks so much. I appreciate it. Im from the united states by the way. Pennsylvania to be exact.
    • [1] reply
    • It's considered "Add a contact" which can be found by clicking on our profile links.

Would you be willing to state what city/town your in?

  • I have a 2gb a month data plan on my phone. And giant eagle is open 24/7 with outlets to charge my phone and free wifi
  • I would look for any opportunity to do work in exchange for room and board. They are out there: pet sitting gigs for example. Be super responsible, this might continue.

Saint Vincent de Paul always has good services as well as the Goodwill.

Contact the YMCA for housing and ideas.
Go to craigslist there and offer to do anything you can do - sometimes paralyzed people need help and it is hard to get (if you have any skills that way)
    Manpower hires daylaborers.
Starbucks and Home Depot are great jobs for this level - both provide good benefits.
I am lighting a candle for you.
And I am lighting a candle for your folks.
  • I hope for the best in your situation. As everyone else said IM is not your current route to be trying to get into. The best bet I could say to do is find a local job and start working to get your self a motel room. While your doing that search Craiglist under gigs section and try and find things your able to do for people. There is a job section on there to look at as well.
  • Here's the food help for Pennsylvania. You could get some help to buy food if you're not already.

    Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

The site looks crap on my computer, though, so I'm not sure if it will look that way on yours. It's not loading correctly on any of my browsers.

He's 18, he could have done anything, he may just have had an argument with his folks.

In fact who's business is it but his why they kicked him out?

  • Look for some other homeless people and ask them where the food line is for your city. Most cities have a place that pass out food everyday to needy people.

And if you get desperate enough to need to beg for money I Know someone who says that begging for money at churches after service is over and at restaurants as they come out after eating works great.

Turns out people are most generous when they are full or had some church activities first.

Also, if looking for a job, many hotels if they hire you as a desk clerk will work out a deal where they will save themselves money by giving you a room and utilities for free plus a small salary in exchange you work like two shifts everyday renting rooms at the front desk. Not a great deal but beats physical labor and put a roof over your head.

Also many large apartments will give their rental manager or maintenance guy a free room plus a paycheck.

    Good luck,
    Terry

There is no way that you can make money to live off of in 1 day. Internet Marketing takes time. In addition, if you're using Paypal, it takes time also to transfer money, so even if you did have a skill to market, you won't get the money in one day.

Either get a job or offer your services. If you have no skills to offer, it's unlikely that you will make any kind of fast money.

Here's another thread that might have some ideas, but it's on you to take the action.

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...desperate.html
  • Crazy idea just hit me.

You could join the military. Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines.

If you hate physical exercise go with the Air Force. The Air Force doesn't make you exercise lol.

Of course be sure that is what you want if you go that route. It is a several year commitment that isn't easy to get out of once you sign up.

    • I tried to get into the service. My parents had hospitalized me against my will 5 months ago, which is called a 302. But it makes me unable to hold, use, purchase, transfer any type of firearm for the rest of my life. So they wouldn't let me join the service :S

  • I'm sorry for your situation but you either need to get a job or get some assistance. I think it will be very hard to make money online with only a smart phone and living homeless. 96 hours without sleep is not good. How can you even stay awake... I would look for some help as after too long your body shuts down.
  • You got no money for food but you got a smart phone?

Cmon man, keep it real and cut the BS.

  • got to agree with Dash on this one. Internet Marketing is a long learning curve. One of which will take you more than a day. It's takes most months just to earn that first dollar online.

Am rooting for you and i hope things pick up for you

  • The story does sound a bit suspicious now that I think about it. My guess is OP ran away rather than his parents kicking him out.
  • Let me assume your story is true. Your parents pay for your cellphone bill when you are 18? I have absolutely no symphaty for you as you seem to be just a spoiled kid who got kicked out because you weren't doing anything with your life an just sat on your parents back. It's not hard to get a minimum wage job if you can put together coherent sentences and lift 20lb. Unless you have a disability there should be absolutely no reason why you can't find a cashier or clerk job... I had friends in a similar situation and they simply went to grocery stores and explained their situation to the manager. They gladly gave them minimum wage jobs to stock alleys and pack groceries into bags

One thing for sure tho, if I was you I wouldn't be wasting my time reading forums on a phone.
  • Sounds like you have a Mindset Problem.
Get "Personal Power" by Tony Robbins.

You can probably get it for a couple of dollas used on Amazon.
It will really help you in your current situation.

Money is not going to help you right now, it will just magnify
    your current situation.
  • Guys leave the poor kid alone..... we all here just know the half baked story.. For which no one knows where everything started.. the root causes are still unknown

    WHY
    WHERE
    HOW

    ????????????????????????????

This MR MYSTERIOUS HAS GOT AMPLE OF OPPORTUNITIES OUT THEIR.... AND STILL HE WANTS THE MAGIC FORMULA.... (LOT OF MONEY IN 1 DAY)

CAN'T U SEE .... HE WANTS THE MONEY FOR THE DOPE...

    Again the summary for everyone
    - Got kicked out. (Reasons unknown)
    - Have touch phone+with 2G DATA plan... (for which his dad pays)
(Great Dad he pay's for phone but not for food)
    - Wasting lot his time in virtual world asking for advices rather than looking for work in real world
(clearly indicates the person in not interested in hard work)
(Even in time of recession people got work when they tried for it)

What I feel is this guy is sitting on a cozy chair of his bedroom or a park and making a fool out of us... coz if one is really hungry n homeless he wont first think of starting n then following a discussion on WF.... Rather then be worried bout his bread for the next day.

    Nayyte
-- I bet you cannot make money in the real or the virtual world if you don't make changes in your attitude. And go back to your parents till you understand what life is about, you need a long learning curve first in life... coz only then you can understand the value of money before earning it.

    BYE MR Dreamer.

    Request....

I may sound rude NAYYTE.. ... but you are wasting everyone's time.
    • [1] reply
    • yes you could be right in what what you say but only he knows the truth.
  • Make your life for the best. If you are really interested and willing to work, there's no such word as HARD. You really have to work to earn and to have foods and shelter.

    • OP I'm going to treat your post like your being honest.

Go try to set up facebook pages for small businesses for
$25.00. Try to locate busy hair salons. If they are busy
probably a lot of services rendered for $50 and up.

Come back here and I'm sure some one will build you one for free.

Go to the hospital to sleep in a waiting room. They may have a
library where you can use their computers for free during
certain hours in the day time.

If you're out their for real look at the glass full! Put a smile
on your face hold your head up and work your way up.

You ask for a game plan I just gave you one with a low risk
price as your lead plus a possible place to lay your head for a
      night or two.

I hope you're not too far from your local hospital. You just got
kicked so Im sure you're not looking homeless yet so you
shouldn't get any suspect lip if you play your cards right.

My dad kicked me out when I was 15 years old. I was so
determined to give him a demo of my manhood that it took
him 3 months to find me to ask me to come back and it took
me 2 years to come back.

No i didn't sell facebook pages for $25.00 but I wish I did

Keep your head up and think the worst is over and work
      hard to better yourself.

The sacrifices you make now will be snowball rewarded shortly.

Stay safe and check back in. Make it work! If you're in a
populated area see it as an advantage because you can
cover a lot of ground on foot. (Glass half fool) Try other
      businesses too.

You can also try to barter with a small restaurant too.

Just some ideas since you asked in case you're for real.
  • First you need a job man !, a good job history and skills will see you right for the rest of your life if needed. It really sounds impossible (sorry to be so frank) that you don't have a single friend that would allow you to sleep on the floor in their house even. Wouldn't it be a good idea to make peace with your parents or do you like living as you do now ?
  • To the OP, I have been there too!

Believe it or not I left home at 16.

I hope you are not taking people for a ride on here and if so WHY? lol

Anyway let's treat your situation as being real here is what I did...

Went around every hotel and asked to speak to the manager.

    Then I was HONEST!

Apologized for the approach but was honest and asked if they were looking for a Kitchen hand I would work harder than anyone in that kitchen.

I EVEN said I would do a full nights work off the books for half the going rate...

I know that is bad but needed the money!

Long story short - I got a job in a kitchen washing dishes, worked my way up to Commis chef and then Sous Chef in under 3 years.

Word of advice since you asked:

Use your age to your ADVANTAGE!

    I wish I were 18 again!

You (generally) can get away with more, being a little bit cheeky to get results.

Also the benefits of a hotel job is most of them are "live in" and then you get a roof over your head as well.

I hope this helps and truly understand what it is like!

My advice is don't do what I did!

Try and get back home and stay safe! Once you leave home you will NEVER have that level of security again!

    Just my 2 pence...

    All the best,

    Chris Jones
  • Man, you are eighteen years old. Work it out with your parents and if you really want to get into IM, do like Jermaine says and get some offline marketing going. FB to hair saloons is a great start
