I just regged a dot com domain with exact matching keywords of 75000 searches per month...
and i was wondering if that is good to start a website on with the idea of monitizing it

thx for your feedback

Without knowing the niche no one will be able to answer your question precisely. Take a look at the top10 ranking pages for the keyword. Old and authority sites -> you're screwed. I'd say build the site, do some SEO, and see for yourself where do you rank and what income does it provide. You can scale it up later.

You might want to target keywords that are similar to the site you want to create with fewer results but keep your domain name. This is of course to create a micro niche site.

As mentioned by Mandloys, it really depends on what domain yours is competing with.

Yea that is too high a search volume for the typical niche site, again as Mandloys suggested you should look closely at the top ranked results for the keyword, since 90% of search clicks happen on page 1, if you can't make it there the payoff will be limited..

Yahoo site explorer or open site explorer will give you a quick page and backlink counts, expect you will have to match those for starters to get onto page 1.

It doesn't matter if the search volume is 75,000 if the competition is too high. See how many competing pages there are for those keywords within "speech marks" in Google search. Then, remove the speech marks and see what sites are on the 1st page. Authority sites are a definite no-no, but articles and pages with no PR are good to go.

Some people say 50,000 competing pages is okay, but I much prefer to be under 20,000 (harder though they are to find).

    All the best,
