UK Warriors - Payment processors

Hey,

I've finally had a 'rolling reserve' added to my PayPal account which means PayPal hold 20% of my incoming payments for a few months..

My main business is outside the IM niche - just average consumers in the UK. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what I could use without my conversion rate decreasing because I'm not using 'PayPal'...

I can't have them holding 20% for that long, it's ridiculous and unfair!

Any ideas fellow Brits?

I use moneybookers and worldpay. Worldpay have just started to accept paypal payments so helps if you're more online.
Moneybookers is free to set-up but charges are higher than paypal. Worldpay has a fee to set-up. Think it's £75 plus additional charges for add on services like virtual terminals but fees can be much lower than paypal if you are doing large volumes.

    Good luck

    Cheers Rich.

Other alternatives I've found are PLIMUS and NOCHEX.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

Be warned nochex are very, very strict in terms of accepting merchants. I tried again last week with them so I can use as a back-up for my online and offline services but got refused as each thing I sell must have full terms and policies including refund policy before a customer completes a purchase using nochex. I offer a lot of bespoke solutions to brick and mortar businesses that's the issue.

Rolling reserves are the norm on PayPal once you take a certain amount. I know a local company in Nottingham who will be able to help you. I will PM you details.

It's already been suggested but I can vouch for Worldpay being a solid option. I used them for about 9 years when I ran a mail-order business, processing a ton of both online and offline transactions, and I never had any problems with them. Looks like they are cheaper now and offer subscriptions, installments, Paypal etc.

Alertpay could be another option, although I don't have any experience using their service.

Worldpay is a good option, but recently i've been turning my websites into using fastspring.com quality payment processor, they reply in a matter of hours with customer service.

Although they don't take many internet marketing services like SEO etc...

Great for ecommerce and digital products/softwares.
