NDA Webinar.. A New Trend?

Just seeing this getting on right now.. I first noticed this with Trey, and now Frank is also doing this.

I also noticed this in a investment niche that I am a part off. Apparently, I missed a trend right under my eyes.

So, people what do you guys think about "NDA Webinar? Yeay or Nay as a effective marketing tool and why ?

Well, as a marketing ploy, it sounds like information you are "not supposed to have". So, regardless it may be working for them just on the curiosity factor.

I am assuming this stands for "non-disclosure agreement"? If so, how are you supposed to sign and what do they require to agree to?

      yes, its non disclosure agreement.

they expect you to print it, sign it, scan n send to them back. this is basically an agreement that you wont reveal what is revealed in the webinar.

BUT.. I wonder how do they enforce it if they give out a replay?

At this moment in my career I cannot see myself going through this just to give people the satisfaction of pitching me something.

It's a clever way of making people think they are getting in on the top secret stuff. It's also a way to further qualify a lead.

    Too weird.

Maybe a dozen or so years ago, Jeff Paul was marketing his "$4,000 a day sitting at the kitchen table in your underwear" program. It was a $10 or $20 book that was really a long salesletter. The end product was a $275 or so course he had created about how to sell high priced info products.

But there was an NDA to be signed on the order form. So I didn't order. He might reveal tacktics and strategies I already knew, and I would be agreeing not to reveal what I alredy knew.

A year or two later there was a Guthy-Ranker informercial selling the Jeff Paul "underwear" course for $199. I called Jeff's office, and his assistant assured me it was the same course Jeff had been selling earlier - the one with the NDA. Now there was no NDA with the TV offered course.

When I mentioned to his assistant that I had not purchased earlier because of the NDE, I learned the NDE was only there to make the original course seem more exclusive.

BTW It was a good course. I followed it to the letter, and made a bunch of money with the system.

I have used NDA agreements in my offline business. Here is what I know... it is hard to enforce, unless you can prove what you disclosed is very unique and not readily available, so most agreements won't stand up in court.

I used it mainly to intimidate my employees, into not disclosing my marketing strategies. BTW... Most people are Sheep (condition by society) and they will follow orders from a strong personality.

We don't require clients which only need "bread and butter" solutions any NDA. However, the ones which requires a customized solution are requested to sign an NDA and non compete.

Suffice to say that we can't get NDAs from Venture Capitalists.

The NDA is a pretty basic one that when implemented in this context could give more perceived value... However the only way I can see them enforcing it with the replay given out is is time sensitive expiration replay link i.e. expires 24 hours after the email is sent out.

As a marketing trick it seems to work hence this thread. They also get your contact info when you sign it.

Legal? Ask an attorney not forum mates.
