JK Audio Inline Patch Audio grief

Hi all...I picked up an inline patch to record interviews and can't seem to get it to work without massive hiss.

I've got the condenser mic going into a small mixer (that has phantom power) and then out of that and into the input of the JK. XLR out goes to my M-Audio project mix console to record the call on my pc.

Followed the book instructions but can get nice levels.

Anyone here have a setup like that that they can offer tips on?

Thanks
Mike

You know I tried the same thing with my m-audio mini and never could get it to work, so I use skype and call people on that to interview them. It's much easier. good luck!

Yeah, what a pain in the neck this is! I have the mic volume loud and clear in the little sub mixer (Behringer) and the call volume is decent (with a nice 60hz hum) comes thru the M-Audio board but when I send audio from the board to the other board, the volume drops.....kinda like sending line level signal without boosting it.

I was just using the Behringer board for the +48v phantom power.

There must be a way to make this work.....

There is a video dude on here who is great with teh audio too....but I forget his name and need to pack!!! Arrgh!!

Here is what I sent Mike in reply to a pm he sent about this issue. I figured others would benefit.

Inline patches do not usually give you much contol espcially when it comes to levels.

I have a few different inline patches that I have tested over the years but the solution that gives the control you seek that I have is:

    1. Inkeeper Digital Hybrid (JK audio)
    2. Edirol UA 25 preamp
    4. XLR connected cardiod condenser mic or any xlr mic that provides you the quality you need.

You'll need a few xlr cables and various male to female and xlr to 1/4 adaptors depending on what xlr cables you have available to you or what ends they have.

I bought my Inkeeper 1 digital hybrid on ebay at a signficant discount over retail. All in all my total setup cost was somewhere around 1k.

The setup is awesome lets you control your levels and the other caller's levels seperately...

However you may want to check this video out because the quality is quite striking and it is accomplished for much less using just software:

Professional (studio quality) recording on Skype... the best how to ever!

P.S. If anyone PM's me about a subject they have posted a thread about or are planning to post a thread about make sure to send me the thread link so I can post my response in a way that will help others ;-)
