Probably get this a lot, I have been reading your forums for some time now.

I own a few sites, and want them to grow in size, as I a make my $ mostly via placement on the sites.

I had a friend tell me to "Spike" the numbers and get advertisers, I am guessing this is a bad idea. and a against it as of now.

I have ads on some of them via google, but again I make most of my money by being paid to place content onto the sites.

I have a few direct questions and if this is the wrong place i apologize.

Should I get back links for the site?

Should I focus on ads for the site or try and stay away since I am making average money already?

If I did go into advertising who would you guys suggest I use?

I keep saying where it says to pay for SEO, do I really need to pay for SEO or can't I just do this myself?

I might have more questions later, if you guys can answer thanks, if not, thanks too.

again I have been reading a lot and learning A TON from this site.

also does anybody use Linkbucks?

    I feel your frustration. I am somewhere between newb and expert. I have several sites as well, that I have had for months...to years.

    For SEO Tools that you can use. Click my sig. I do not gain anything from you using these tools. They are not affiliate links. Just a page full of links to tools that I use. Yes you can do SEO yourself.

    I wish I could help you with Backlinks...but that is still a mystery to me. Using this forum is pretty awesome way to get some traffic. Put your links in your sig and dive into this forum. But you need to spread yourself out to multiple sites.

    Check out the Backlink Search Engine on my site under SEO Tools. Great way to do manual linking.

    Also look into Market Samurai it gives you a section in the "Promotion" tab to find sites that use DoFollow or NoFollow links.

    I use Fast Directory Submitter...for some backlinking. It automates things pretty nicely...but it is just one tool and one pool of backlinks.

    Somebody recommended that I pay for backlinks on a regular basis...consistently building backlinks at a steady rate. They said go to the "Warriors For Hire" section of this forum and review the various services for good reviews...and then just try it out. I have not done that yet...as I am on a low, low budget.

    Learn on page seo for your articles. I use WordPress and a free plugin called SEO Vibe Pak Panel. It tells you what you need to get the ONPAGE SEO done really well. I have seen some results.

    Use Market Samurai to do your keyword research...watch the free tutorials that come with the free 12 day trial of Market Samurai. It will show you how to use the tool well.

    Lots of work...if you are going to do it yourself.
