The honest answer is if you're a complete noob lacking
any knowledge or skills there is no simple, cheap or quick
way for you to earn anything, let alone $20/day

  First...don't let my post count fool you, I've been in the marketing business for a few years now.
  
  If you're not looking to sell a product, then you're looking to perform a service. That would tell me that article writing, keyword research, blog commenting, and various other services might be the path you want to take.
  
  Most article writers start out charging $5 per article. If you possess adequate writing skills, then 4 articles a day should not be difficult at all.
  
  Post a thread on the Warriors for Hire form and see what happens from there.
  
  P.S. Also keep in mind that there are other services you can learn about and offer also. For a list of ideas, visit the Warrior for Hire thread and look at what other warriors are offering and the prices they are charging for each.

So are you ok with selling a product if you can dropship it? Cause there are many ways to do that inexpensively! You can also sell services.
I am not a fan of these all......but they work to a degree:
ebay
amazon
etsy
fiverr

Start your own deal website (dodtracker and dodsea offers these at little to no money up front and offer built in targeted marketing to shoppers)

You'll have to learn something or posses a skill to earn money since you need to offer a product or service.

Simple case of asking yourself what people want and what you can provide.

I know quite a few people who are doing well marketing their plr/mrr ebooks on ebay and other sites. But you need to be diligent about driving traffic. And volume is key because the price points are typically low.

OK... so far we've had selling gigs on Fiverr, drop shipping
physical products and peddling plr/mrr ebooks on ebay, etc.

If you are really a complete newb I'll assume you can't build a website or a blog. That severely limits you. It means you will have to rely on another person's/company's site to generate your income.

Like JennSpencerIM said earlier, fiverr is probably your best bet. But you will have to do 5 gigs per day, not 4 because fiverr keeps $1 of every gig. Article writing is probably going to be your best bet, but there is a LOT of competition. Maybe you can come up with another service you can provide that people will think is worth $5.

If you know your way around ebay you might be able to sell some items there. Go to your local thrift store or garage sales on the weekends. Find out what sells on ebay and see if there is enough profit to buy something and resell it. You might even be able to find a local business that will pay you to list their items on ebay.

The fastest way to earn $20 without a physical product is to sell Internet/PC stuff offline. Actually you can make much more than $20.

One skill I know you have for sure is you can turn on a computer or smart phone or however you are posting here and you can post on a forum.

If you can do the above you have skills that others will pay for.

Just wanted to clarify due to all the talk about Fiverr - Not only do they take 1 dollar fee for each order, but they also make you wait 14 days after the order is marked complete before you can withdraw the money.

So if you need 20 bucks TODAY, Fiverr isn't going to help you.

For example, you wouldn't want to promote "How to build your list" to someone who is interested in cooking. They wouldn't even know what a list is.. lol so yeah, make sure you are sending your links to the right crowd.

jthall89, there are many ways available online to make atleast $20 dollars a day but for that you must have some sort of skills, like above suggested
you can create upto 20 gigs on fiverr as per your skill or expertise and get paid,
you can provide virtual assistance as George said and get paid for that,
if you can write articles then you can get paid for writing 5-10 articles on daily basis,
if you know graphic designing or photography you can get paid for selling your designs and photographs
And many others and none of above requires online marketing skills any newbie can do above things if he have that level of skills..

I want to clarify that when I say without selling physical products I mean I don't have any type of inventory sitting in my garage or anything. I realize that marketing is essentially selling something. I want to make $20 in internet marketing.

You can make a LOT more than 20 dollars. It just takes time and practice. Noah didn't build the Ark overnight. (If you believe that he built one in the first place, but I'm not here to talk about religious beliefs.)

Nothing worth having comes easily.

I think your best investment is investing in yourself and your knowledge. Try. Test. Fail. Try. Test. Fail. Look, if you want to make money in online marketing and go somewhere with it you need to start somewhere. Investigate the many ways to make money online and see how they integrate with your passions. It may not make you $20 dollars today but it will make you $200 and $2000 and if your passionate enough about it even more.

Hate to burst your bubble here but if your a complete newbie and you want to get into the IM world you have to first learn some new skills. ( I fell victim to this way of thinking when I first started - I thought this looks like a piece of cake, I should be making money in a couple of days - NOT SO!!!)

If your really serious about IM - why not start with selling affiliate digital products such as ebooks, online video courses, membership sites, etc. Check Out Click bank for starters and get a feel for a niche you might be interested in.

Create a blog or one page website ( Landing page )
Market, Market, Market ( get traffic to your site )
Build your list
Establish a relationship with your prospects
Market your affiliate products to your list

I know at first it might sound a bit complicated and at the same time frustarting but stick with it and you'll reap the benefits in the back end...

There are alot of ways to break into the IM field.
My experience to make money easily for newbies would be adsense.

Find a niche targeted keyword- use google adword keyword tool, find a low competition keyword, with high monthly search volume, say 3000+

Create a blog, wordpress would be best platform, add your content.

Add your adsence code. get targeted visitors by writing articles, and a great way to get targeted traffic which alot of people ignore is by rss feed.

I make alot of money from adsence just 1 of my sites make average $100 a day
Once you get the hang of things then go for affiliate products as well, like clickbank.
