Putting your finger on the pulse- effectively

I'm researching my second product, want to start working on it, if not by tonight, then by tomorrow night (get my best work done when kids are asleep and husband is at work lol!)

I'm trying to research what people might need or want to learn more about.

The method of surfing the warrior forums and wso section is a bit overwhelming. A lot of the topics that are obvious ones already have big hitter WSOs for them, so my small fish product might not be a good one to compete with them just yet.

What are some good ways to put your finger on the pulse of whats hot or needed, without the information overload?

Thanks for your ideas!

Anything that you can demonstrate success for is a good probability.
For example. If you have blogs about certain subjects already and you are tracking your statistics for keywords that hit your blog...you can develop a theme around that idea or keyword phrase and really hit it hard with several articles and backlinks.

This can be a catch22...if you are not measuring your statistics on your blog...then you are groping in the dark. Also...your site tends to draw traffic for what you have already posted...so that can put you into a rut of not being able to think about new things.

Depends on how much you are already blogging...and if people have picked up on some random idea in one of your blog articles and you start getting hits for it.

Follow the trends in your statistics. Occasionally you get lucky and find something that is trending, upon which you can capitalize.

This is a habit I have...constantly reviewing Statcounter and Google Analytics for active content.

    Good luck!

Just my opinion, but I think you should try to write more about what you already know.
Research is fine, but on WF buyers are more interested in what you've done, your personal experience and what you've done to get your business ahead.
